A Special Note from Stephen Wheeler, President of White Fields
I took this picture in November 2014 upon my first visit to the church that White Fields helped, through prayer and support, Pastor Aih Kham Ko. I heard her testimony when I was with them. She was a fortune-teller and was demonically possessed, so she could tell people where they had been, what they had eaten during the day and other secrets in their lives. Her daughter had invited Pastor Ko to lead a Bible study at their home every night and her mother was in the room but not coherent; she expressed that she never understood what he was talking about. Pastor Aih Kham ko asked White Fields partners to pray, and he began to pray for more than an hour every day before going to the house for Bible study.
Daw Ngunt told me that she began to struggle to get the demons to give her information during those days so she would spend more time calling on them to show her the secrets of other people’s lives. Pastor Aih Kham Ko told me that as he heard her share about how she spent more time trying to get her spirits to come to her, he began spending more time praying before the Bible study.
Then one night, Daw Ngunt shared that her mind was completely clear, like God had removed the haze as the Bible study proceeded. She understood everything clearly. At the end of the study, she asked Pastor Aih Kham Ko to pray with her to repent and receive Jesus Christ. She had that night understood everything about the gospel as he was teaching.
Over the next few days, the people who regularly paid her to tell their fortunes and cast good spells for their fortunes warned her that her demonic spirits would punish her and that her family should be afraid too. At this point in her testimony, she reached over and patted Aye Min Tun on the leg, saying, “My God is more powerful than the demons who I formerly served. They have left me, and no harm has ever come to my family.
I was thrilled on my trip to Myanmar in December of 2019 when I spent time with Pastor Aih Kham Ko because he said that over the years, Aye Min Tun had grown strong in the Word of God and was reaching into an area that had no church. White Fields began our support so that Pastor Aye Min Tun could serve full-time, starting a church in that area
Update from Pastor
I praise and thank God for answering our prayers and granting us protection. Due to your prayer help, my family and all the church members are safe, but we are in a dangerous situation every day and night. The political crisis has caused famine in our area. My members and the people in my area are poor, they rely on their daily wages to buy food, so they are struggling to obtain daily food. Please continue to pray for us.
Unfortunately, my grandmother, Daw (Mrs.) Ngunt, who was a wizard and converted to Christianity through the sharing of Pastor Aih Kham Ko, passed away almost two months ago. We were under curfew and martial law, so only my overseer and co-pastors came to help for the funeral. We did have some neighbors who came and joined us; they also heard the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Pray for the family members who are left behind.
My family moved to another house because the owner sold my rented house. I thank God for preparing another one in the same area. This new place is newer and has more space. Though we are under curfew, we could have worship services with my members in our new rented house. We have about ten to fifteen people who come together for worship. Last month, my overseer, Pastor Thawng, and his church members distributed rice and vegetables, such as potatoes, onions, garlic, beans, and cooking oil. My church members were happy to receive these gifts.
We have been under strict curfew for two months because of protectors in our town. It was one of the worst demonstration spots in all of Yangon City. Many were killed or arrested and put in jail. Pray for all the people, including believers, in Myanmar. Pray for the Lord to give us freedom and peace.
- Give thanks to God for His protection and a new house.
- Give thanks for the daily food.
- Pray for my grandmother’s children and grandchildren to be comforted by the Lord.
- Pray for our country to be changed into a federal democratic government.
Thankful for your prayer and financial support. May God bless you all richly.
March 2021
My area is under curfew, so our outreach and worship services are not occurring at this time. We quietly are meeting for prayer.
- Pray for our country and our village.
- Pray for peace and the fighting to stop.
February 2021
Greetings, due to your prayers, we are conducting our weekly programs regularly. Your prayers have kept us safe by the grace of God.
I am happy to share that one lady, Ma (Ms) Ma Po, was baptized last month. She came to faith in Christ out of Buddhism with her two friends, but they are not ready to take baptism yet. One of them is facing opposition from her parents and relatives. Pray for her.
In the last couple of months, we have averaged about fifteen to twenty attendees; some are not Christians but are interested in hearing about salvation.
- Pray for the Holy Spirit to open their hearts, so they believe in Christ soon.
- Pray for my renting house; the owner always tries to evict us because we use it as a worship place; he is a strong Buddhist.
- Pray for the Lord to prepare another house for us.
Give thanks to God for Ma Po coming to faith. Pray for her to grow in trusting God and standing firm in the faith. Give thanks to God for the protection; by His grace, we are well.
- Pray for our country; the military takeover has been troubling to our nation and our people.
- Pray for our country to be changed into a federal democratic government.
January 2021
During the Christmas season, I reached out to my neighbors. I thank God that I was able to meet new people. I distributed some vegetables, rice, and gospel tracks. The lockdown has lasted about a year now, and many people struggle to get adequate daily food. We have heard that about a thousand people committed suicide during the lockdown period; unfortunately, this number was only those in the Yangon division.
By God’s protection, my family and church members have been safe throughout this pandemic. We held our Christmas celebration and invited the neighbors. About twenty-eight people came in total; among these, fifteen were non-believers. Pastor Aih Kham Ko preached about the purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ, born in Bethlehem; Jesus came to seek and save the lost. The audience listened intently. After the service, we had a fellowship dinner together. I distribute gifts, such as rice, cooking oil, and other necessities to the participants. They were happy.
Three ladies believed in Jesus Christ during the Christmas season. One of them is ready to be baptized. The other two are willing to be baptized, but their parents forbid them to change religions. Currently, they are still allowed to join our church services.
- Pray for these three ladies to have strong faith in God.
- Pray for the two young women whose parents are not excited about their newfound faith.
- Pray for the entire family to believe.
Give thanks to God for my evangelism to the surrounding people and our successful Christmas celebrations.
- Pray for the covid lockdown to be ended soon, so we have the freedom to worship and share the gospel with others.
- Pray for more open doors for the good news.
December 2020
First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the prayer partners during this difficult time. Secondly, due to your prayer help, my family and my members are safe from Covid-19 till today. There were new positive cases in our area, and our government has extended the lockdown up to the end of December. I have been exceedingly thankful for the extra funds given that have allowed me to reach out to the very needy people affected by the restrictions.
- Pastor Aye Min Htun was able to buy rice and cooking oil for his surrounding neighbors that were in need. This care for the needy created opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
- Praise God that pastor Aye Min Htun was able to bless these people.
When I went out for evangelism in October and November, I met a new man; his name is Ko Ye Min Aung. I shared the gospel with him, and he responded by sharing his testimony.
My family and I have experienced that Jesus is our Savior. We have decided to worship and serve Him. My sister also believed in Jesus Christ, and we trust Jesus, who is always with us and blesses our family.
Ko Ye Min
In October, my overseer pastor Thawng helped us by purchasing rice and vegetables to distribute to my neighbors and members. I had met a Hindu family, they also were in a difficult situation during the lockdown, so I shared the gospel of salvation of Jesus Christ. It was perfect that I could reach the surrounding people and share the Savior of Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the support we receive to reach our neighbors and share in tangible ways the love of Jesus.
We have continued to reach out with special visits to our neighbors. Since our community is not acquainted with Christianity, we begin by sharing God’s basic concepts in the Bible and our relationship with him. We seek to start a Bible study in their home for their family. Your prayers can open the hearts of these neighbors to grow in their curiosity about the Scriptures.
Prayer Request:
- Please give thanks to God for my evangelism to the surrounding people and those open to hearing the gospel.
- Please pray for my outreach ministry that some still reject the good news of Jesus Christ’s salvation.
- Please also pray for my Christmas season ministry and celebrations. I had planned to celebrate Christmas at Sabe Street, Yulee Ward nearby my house. As we are requested to stay at home, I try my best to feed new people and distribute gospel tracts.
- Please also pray for our country that the Lord may shine in this dark country and also pray for the fading away of the Covid-19 virus from our country.
I would like to say my thanks to you once again for your support. Your prayers and the financial giving help sustain my family so I can minister full-time. It is very helpful for my ministry and my family. May God bless you all richly.
Yours in Christ’s service,
Aye Min Tun
