Every construction project requires coordination on many different aspects of the job. Workers cannot just start putting rocks into a row without a plan. The preparation is essential. We are also grateful for the vision our partners have, so the funding for a project like this is available. Watch the video to see the progress.
Graceland Elementary School in Rukungiri has needed permanent classrooms. To resolve that need, we started making plans over two years ago for this project. The first building of three classes was completed a few years back and gave us a good working design. We have provided a fun video for you to watch the progress made building this year.
All our workers have remained safe during construction. They labor diligently. During the virus lockdown, they remained on the campus by housing in the existing classrooms. We provided all their meals because they were not allowed to move between home and the construction site. Their families, however, received the income from their compensation, so they were providing food for their children.
The whole school campus is coming together and will provide a tremendous improvement to the education of the next generation. We are thrilled when we see the eagerness of children who are learning in ways that their parents could only imagine.
