The civil war in Myanmar has continued during the past four years. Our White Fields pastors work diligently to minister, serve their community members, and reach out to the villages near their local church. Sometimes, people flee into the jungle because the fighting is fierce; the military and rebels clash in their villages.
The pastors love Jesus and want to serve more people. They continually look for opportunities to reach out and bring the hope that comes from the Lord.
Our pastors request that you pray for them. They greatly treasure your partnership. Often, church members have no jobs or income and struggle just to have food. Many widows fill the community. Younger families have children, but there is no school available for them. White Fields’ support helps keep the churches sustained during these difficult times.
I received a report from one of our pastors who is serving in the country’s remote mountain region. Thanks to a generous donation from a partner church in the USA, he now has a strong motorbike that he diligently uses for outreach ministry in the mountains. He also engages other young men who love Jesus to draw them into service alongside him.
We are thankful for all the partners who make the evangelism and relief ministry possible. Together, we can spread the good news.
Outreach to Refugees in the Mountains
Pastor Solomon’s most recent evangelistic relief ministry was to an area of the mountains to serve people whose houses and crops were burned by the military and rebel fighting. These people are all Buddhist. Pastor Solomon visited them with bags of rice and other supplies and shared some meals with them. This act of generosity provided an opening to share the gospel.
A Meal Opens the Door
Sharing a little food with people who are not members of your religion initiates curiosity in their minds about why you are being generous to them. They possess nothing to repay you. Their houses are gone, and their children are hungry. Yet here you have come to bring them rice, vegetables, and cooking oil. “Maybe I will hear you.”
Children Need Education
Please pray for us as we work with Pastor Solomon to solve a unique problem in their home village. He currently has seven children in their church who cannot attend school because their parents cannot pay the fees. In our past visits to this church, we provided school supplies so that Pastor Solomon’s wife, who has a college degree in education, could teach students like this. We hope to provide funding again to allow her to teach these students. It is a blessing to the church and a wholeness of ministry. Our pastor’s wives often provide ministry alongside their husbands.
- Pray for our pastors as they travel into these villages.
- Pray for their safety.
- Pray for their strength.
- Pray for them to have wisdom as they approach these needy people.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
Matthew 9:37–38
God is at work in many ways and in many places.
