Greetings in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

As a church planter, it is quite hard to establish new contacts for Bible studies and outreaches. We have gone through many streets and barangays, introducing ourselves through gospel tract distribution. Some have accepted our presence through kind gestures, but there are others who just shrugged their shoulders.

Despite this, we continue to be patient and reach out, looking for those who will receive us. The Lord has led us to meet Mr. Jon Neri. He was Pastor Gerald’s good friend when they lived in the Paliparan area. We have exchanged pleasantries and tried to explain why we are here. The meeting was casual because he was in a hurry to attend another meeting. However, he told us he would be willing to offer his home as a venue for Bible study. He gave us his address and phone number. Please pray this will push through and that God will lead the way for us to introduce our work in this area. Pray the Lord will bring us the right people as we persistently do our task of reaching out for Christ.

The El Shaddai group is a Catholic movement here in the Philippines. They are very active in the Mabuhay area. Their style of singing and teaching resembles evangelical Christian groups. Because of this discontented Catholics attend this group because they still want to be identified as “Catholic”. We were able to meet about four of them. They said they are not regular attendees, but have been there. We gave them gospel tracts and I was happy that they were friendly as we introduced ourselves as born again Christians. I also told them I am a church planter. We had a good conversation and what I hope will be the start of a good relationship. I sensed that this group is positive toward the gospel. They are all men, so I asked them to meet with me once a week to study the Word. They confirmed their willingness, so I hope this can start soon. Pray with me they will not change their minds and that they will continue to be open to discuss spiritual issues. Pray God will work in our midst. I know that nothing is impossible with God. Please pray with me.

George Baguioso

The Villagracia family are new members of the church, and their daughter is a recipient of a scholarship. She is sponsored a monthly stipend by the Korean missionaries for school materials. Their daughter is now in the fifth grade in elementary school. This family also hosts a Bible study every Sunday evening and they are very receptive to the word of God. We have trained them in how to praise, worship, and give thanks to the almighty father.

Please pray for the Villagracia family, that they will be encouraged to continue holding the Bible study in their home.

There is another member that we have been praying for. Brother Mario is a garbage collection driver, and his wife is the one who takes care of the children. We have prayed for them that they will grow in the Lord and God will bless them spiritually, physically, and financially.

Please pray for Brother Mario and his family.

We now have five Bible studies a week in our church. In the month of June, college classes started up again. We have many of our young people attending college in the city. We have a scholarship program where the recipient must agree to standards such as attending the worship service, prayer meeting, and cell group. So far, we have 15 recipients in the church.

Please pray for our Bible studies, that they will continue to progress and grow.

Gil Armas

Every Sunday during church our children learn Bible stories, songs, memory verses and receive a meal. The volunteers in Kasunduan Commonwealth and Purok 9 Payatas Quezon City are investing their time with the children. This coming Christmas we are teaching the children to pray through wishes for gifts. We believe God will answer their prayers and the children will receive their gifts. Please continue to pray for the children and us so that each child will be blessed this season.

We continue to have worship services in five different homes. Continue to pray that the people will grow in the knowledge of the Lord. We are also praying for our church building; we believe that God will provide the resources for this work. As I minister to different people, I realize that our church members have many life issues. Pray for us as we pray for each person in our church.

During a recent seminar, we focused on prayer and praying for people’s healing and deliverance. Benilda Alban’s shared his testimony about his son who was ill and was not able to move on his own because of seizures he would experience. However, when we began praying for him, he was healed. In the past six months, he has not had a seizing episode.

In October I performed a funeral service and had the opportunity to share the gospel with hundreds of people and distributed the (navigators gospel) coins to the family members. Even though the event was a sad one, the blessing is that everyone who attended heard the gospel. Pastor Danny invited me to speak at his church, and the focused bible verse was 1 Cor. 15:58. Right mindset needs a right Attitude, Action, and Anticipation.

Plans for this year:

Planting household churches through contacts in Pantawid ng Pamilyang Pilipino Program, Tanglaw Foundation ng Buhay, and other partners for reaching more people.
Additional means to generate money for the church building project as the Lord enables us.

Prayer Items:

Pray for me that I would have the strength and the energy to continue the church planting work in the area, and to be a useful community organizer.
Continue to pray for our household churches and Genesis Multi-Purpose to be registered. Pray for the budget.
Pray that our new contacts in the Pantawid ng Pamilyang Pilipino Program would respond positively to the Word of God and be encouraged to join our Bible Studies.
Pray for the support from our partner presbytery, for the Gangbuk Presbytery in South Korea to sponsor a building project for the church, to serve as a place for worship in that area and a place to house the Genesis Multi-purpose Cooperative.
Continue praying for the protection and welfare of my family.

But that is not the way you learned Christ!—assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. – Ephesians 4:20-24

Every Sunday morning, I teach a Sunday school class, to the staff of our church, on Christian Counseling. It has been a great blessing to see the work of the Lord in our lives through the exposition of the Word on this topic. We are becoming much more intentional in our fight with sin; and the accountability to each other is helping us face struggles that were very deep in our hearts. I pray that the Lord will allow us to be a church where the life of Christ would be evident to the watching world and that our lives would conform more and more to His holy character. There have been many challenges, but the Lord is always faithful and continues the work in our lives. Thank you so much for your constant prayers.

On the first Sunday of each month, we stay after the church service and have lunch at our church building. It is always a fun and fruitful time where the life of the body is strengthened. It has been our prayer that the Lord would allow us to live the life of genuine unity and love. Our sin is always pushing us to selfishness, but by the grace of God, we have seen beautiful signs of growth in this area over the past years. We still have much to learn. Please continue to pray for our church.

It has been a joy to see some of the youth make a profession of faith a few months ago in Ciudad Evita, and that they have been attending our youth program every Saturday night. There is a group of seven teenagers that express a great hunger for the Word of God. Every Thursday evening, my sister and the youth leader of our church, hold a small group meeting in one of the homes in Ciudad Evita, where they disciple these young kids. We pray that they would continue to grow in the Lord and that they would become a light that would impact that entire neighborhood.

Calos and Samanta (one of the couples that are leading the work in Ciudad Evita) had a baby last month. They came to the Pastoral Training Center from Ecuador last April and are now part of our church. They have been living in our church building and serving in Ciudad Evita as part of the leadership there. It has been a great blessing to see them grow and mature in the Lord. The women at our church planned a baby shower and they had a great time encouraging Samanta and praying for her. Along with Nerina, we have taken on the responsibility to care for one family that Calos and Samanta disciple, until they are able to go out to do visitation again. Their names are Martin and Nilda. The Lord gave me the privilege of leading Nilda to the Lord a couple of months ago, and now we are very excited to spend time with them teaching them to follow Christ.

We recently had a missionary from Venezuela at our church sharing about the ministry they are doing in Caracas and in the jungles. His name is Giovanni. There is a young man from Venezuela who finished his studies at the Pastoral Training Center last year and is now praying to start a future ministry in the jungles. He has been visiting the jungles for five years and is helping Giovanni with his work in that area, mainly doing evangelism and discipleship. God has opened many doors in many regions and we are excited to become involved by taking some tools that would help the churches in that area grow stronger and deeper, so they can have a wider impact. Much missionary work has been done in the last few years, but sadly, the local pastors have not receive much training, and they are struggling with the spiritual depth of their flock. We pray that in the next few years the Lord would allow us to serve them so they can continue to grow to be able to reach every tribe in Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil.

We thank the Lord for every opportunity that he gives us to reach out to our neighbors and family members with the gospel. This past month, we had a group of friends from Florida who came to serve in our churches and work in two of our neighborhoods: Merlo and Villa Luzuriaga. In Merlo, our team invited the women to a special meeting and many came to hear the gospel. It was a beautiful night. Then, the team went out to witness in Villa Luzuriaga, and God also opened many doors there. That night, they invited the women to a special event at my parent´s house. Only one lady with her daughters showed up for the event, but the Lord worked mightily in her heart that night and we believe that she accepted Christ. Since then, she has been coming on Sundays to our meetings and she is always talking about her joy in being in God´s family.

Please continue to pray for wisdom and for God´s provision to send Samuel and Chayo to Peru next January.
Please pray for wisdom and provision for our church-planting project in Venezuela. We have two families that are praying to come to the Pastoral Training Center next year. Please pray that the Lord would provide for them.
Please pray for wisdom as we counsel difficult cases in our church.

For the month of September, the members of our church said they would like to study the book of James, in it are many practices for the Christian that have proved beneficial to the members of our church. We studied every night in each other’s homes and by the end of the month we were strengthened and encouraged in how we should live our lives.

Please give thanks to God for the success of our gospel crusade from September 19-25 and the conversion of four young people.

Pastor Khup and the members of the church conducted a gospel campaign for six days at the end of September. They invited nonbelievers from the community to come and had evangelist Lin Thang speak and two gospel singers perform at the event. Each day they fifty to sixty people attend the teaching, amongst these four young people made a profession of faith in Jesus. They were Nei Thang, Awbet, Za Thang and Thawng Nao, we were jubilant and thanked God for this amazing work.

Thank you for praying earnestly for us over the last month, there have been many children who have been sick in our community. In early August all of the children were given a clean bill of health and released from the hospital, we are thankful that the Lord has answered our prayers. As you may remember at the end of August Myanmar was struck by a 6.8 magnitude earthquake, the epicenter was approximately 80 miles away from where we are located.

We were very scared when the earthquake struck and immediately ran outside for fear the buildings would fall down on top of us. Some children even jumped through windows from second story houses to get away, two of these children sustained injuries to their heads and legs. We admitted these children back to the hospital, and after one week of recuperation, they were well enough to be released. The earthquake was very strong, and our house rocked back and forth from the tremendous shaking, but the Lord is our protector. He kept our houses safe and allowed there to be no loss of life, praise the Lord!

For two days in the middle of August I visited the village of Letpantakar, while there we had a worship service and I was able to preach the Gospel. There were several believers that attended and even some new people from the community that joined us. The villages around Letpantakar are very rural and are largely undeveloped; there is no infrastructure that has been built. The people are from the Asho Chin tribe and are predominantly Buddhist with some that worship spirits as well, these people desperately need to hear the news of the Gospel! The Christians in the neighboring villages have come together and have made a specific plan to focus on reaching the people of the Asho Chin area with the Gospel! Please pray that as we unify in purpose and calling to this area that the Lord would strengthen us and allow us to go out boldly so that many people will become believers in Jesus.

Please pray for our students that the Lord will protect them from the evil one so that they will do well in there schooling.
