Nicholas Katungye

Pastor Nicholas’ Testimony

In my clan, drinking alcohol was not a problem, and before accepting Jesus Christ, I could drink alcohol as if there was no tomorrow. I was also a hard-working person, but I could not save any money because I spent all I earned on alcohol. I sold things at home like house chairs, source pans, and family food purposely to buy alcohol. My family continuously advised me to stop drinking alcohol.

I joined a savings association at the advice of a friend trying to help me with my situation. The association helped me reduce the amount of money I spent on alcohol by reducing the amount of money I had on hand. But every time we shared our savings, I still used all the money I had on drinking. So I ended up benefiting nothing from these money-saving groups. I started borrowing money from these groups and joined gambling groups in which I also lost most of what I borrowed. I am still paying those debts. I got addicted to alcohol and gambling to the extent that I valued them more than my daily food.

Watch the testimony of a church member to see how God reconciled this family after Esther severed her husband Dickson’s arm. Pastor Nicholas was prepared by God for this ministry.

Pastor Nicholas’ Testimony continued.

I decided to marry, but my marriage was very challenging because of my addictions. Due to increased debts, I ran away to Kampala to look for work and was there for one year. I started a bar but incurred more debt while operating the bar. I continued with my additions, was arrested for gambling, and eventually got out of jail on monetary bail.

God’s Embassy started a home fellowship in Ruteete, which I started attending. After some time of visiting the fellowship and listening to the Word of God, I believed and gave my life to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in 2016. The fellowship leader, Jackson Turinawe, who is now the pastor of God’s Embassy Ruteete, helped me overcome addictions through prayer and reading the Word of God.

I thank God for God’s Embassy and White Field Ministries because, through them, God has been gracious to my family and me and allowed us to serve God and His people as pastors. We are now living a life of hope and blessed to be ministers. I started serving as an assistant pastor in God’s Embassy Ruteete in 2017 and 2019 as Pastor for Kigaaga. I found 27 people in God’s Embassy Kigaaga; by God’s grace, we are now 79 people in attendance. More people are still showing interest in the Gospel. We give all the glory to God.

Recent Ministry:

We see God at work in the life of Tumwebaze Immaculate, a widow living in Kahihi cell, Nyakinengo parish. She has two children, Marvin and Dellick. After losing her husband, she faced financial struggles. She began working as a laborer to support her children. Sadly, she had an accident that affected her mobility, and she lacked the funds for medical treatment. She came to our church seeking support and assistance. We welcomed her and prayed for her. Over time, she recovered and regained her mobility. We thank God for her healing. She has fully recovered, and her children have returned to school. She came to church to testify and give thanks to God.

We see the work of God in Tumubwine Syria and his wife, Niwagaba Fred, lives. They are both residents of Kigaaga. They came to us while facing a serious pregnancy complication. She was experiencing severe stomach pain. After we prayed, we encouraged her to seek medical attention. We thank God that she later recovered. She thanks God for the care and support from the church family. She eventually delivered a healthy baby boy. She now praises the Lord for His healing and grace.

We see the work of God in the Life of Kiviri Amson and his wife Naomi, who put their faith in the Lord. They have two young children, Arshavin and Mercy, who reside in the Kigaaga cell. They rely on subsistence farming and casual labor. Amson struggled with alcoholism and had sold nearly all their household possessions to buy alcohol. His wife, Naomi, was deeply affected and considered leaving. We provided support to her, and she committed her life to Christ. She chose to stay and began praying for her husband’s salvation. One Sunday, Amson felt compelled to attend church, and when he heard the message, he surrendered his life to Jesus. He stopped drinking, and now Amson is active in evangelism, while Naomi sings in the choir. They recently purchased land and thank God for His provision and the transformation in their lives.

We see God at work in the life of Syria Tumubwine, the wife of Kamugisha Jorum, a resident of Kigaaga Cell B. During our home visits, this family practiced spirit worship. At our visit, she feared the spirits would punish her for the mistakes they made during their ritual worship. She was pregnant and worried about losing her baby. We encouraged her to trust God and place her faith in Christ, the protector of all who trust Him. She did so and gave her life to Christ. We prayed for her, and the Lord preserved her baby. She now joyfully attends church with her healthy baby, giving glory to God.

We see God at work in the life of Edson during land conflicts with his neighbor. Edson had been in prison for two months and then out on bail. The land case was huge, and he was afraid that he would be detained for the rest of his life. We encouraged him to appeal to the God of Heaven who is a just judge, to put trust in the Lord to help him. God has helped him through lawyers to win the case and he testifies that if it was not for God, he would die in prison. We pray that Edsons and Agnes’s faith may be strengthened as they develop and grow in Christ.

We see God at work in the life of Godwin who chose to renew his faith and follow Jesus Christ as his Savior. Godwin became a drunkard. We had been praying for him and visiting him, encouraging him to attend church services, but on Center Day, he made the big step to renew his faith and return to the church.

We see God at work in the family of Job and Anitah and their five children. We met them through home visits and realized that they were demonically possessed. Job had stomach problems with persistent pain all over which could not be cured. He had sought medicine but could not get well. He sought help from witch doctors but could not get well. We prayed for him, he was delivered from the spirits and was healed. He gave his life to Christ, and through him, his wife also gave her life to Christ. She testifies that her husband’s life has changed, and they are now happy. We pray to God to open doors of finance and to expand their house since it is small.

During home visits, we met Ketty, who had been forced into marriage by her family, and she felt hopeless.  Ketty is married to Edson and is blessed with three children. We shared the Word of God with her and her family, and she regained strength after knowing the truth about Jesus Christ. The family accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior, and Ketty and Edson are now serving God in church. We pray to God to continue protecting them from her family and bring light to the rest of her family so that they can also know the truth about Jesus Christ.

Pellon was saved during the crusade in Kigaaga, and her life is being transformed. After her father’s death, she grew up with her mother, who did not have money to pay school fees, and Pellon dropped out during primary seven. She has started learning tailoring through the church poverty solutions program, and we pray that she may remain a committed, serving member of the church.

Pray that Gloria may remain in faith and God may continue to protect her. She was a drunkard when we started visiting her at home and praying for her. After listening to the gospel preached, she realized her need for a Savior and gave her life to Jesus Christ.
