December 2015
I thank God for all of His grace and blessings; He met our needs for the Church anniversary. 300 people (including children, neighbors, and church members) attended the event! We were able to provide, as a gift from the church, four sacks of rice for every person. The people in this area are in a very difficult situation. Recently, a great calamity occurred. A strong typhoon damaged the garden and farm of our brethren. This place is at 800 meters above sea level, situated in the coldest and highest place in Cebu.
- Please pray for the people in the area that were affected by the devastating typhoon.
I also thank God for the unity of our church members in assisting me, especially the youth leaders. During the church anniversary, they gave me a motorcycle for my ministry visitation and follow-up with new contacts. I was pleased with the food preparation, the menu was not lacking, and the barangay (neighborhood) captain was a great support in helping arrange an additional 100 chairs from the barangay Sudlon-2. My eldest daughter stepped up to lead the praise and worship. My wife and others leaders in charge took care of the decorations. Our prayers were answered, no heavy rain came during the event and everyone was happy.
My two college students have started their second semester of school. My eldest daughter is in her second year at the University of Cebu, taking classes for a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, emphasis in Secondary Education. Our son is taking classes for a Bachelor of Science, in Information Technology, degree. My wife and I are praying for the financial needs for their schooling; we know that God is always helpful in every way and that He always has a plan for each one of us.
There is the temptation to start a business in carbon, but the ministry and the church would suffer. God has used prayers to help guide us to focus on the ministry of the church as well as gardening. We have a big area to raise chickens and plant vegetables. It is challenging at times to keep up with the demand for fertilizer and insecticides for the fast and productive agriculture and farming. We hope to next year have a Ginger plantation on our farm that would help contribute to financial provision.
- Please pray for us to resist the temptation to start another line of work that would sacrifice ministry work. Pray that we remain focused on the church.
