A permanent, well-designed building is essential in Japan to achieve credibility among visitors to a church. Less than 1% of the Japanese population identifies as Christian. This makes the challenge for credibility among the population very challenging. An attractive, culturally appropriate building removes some barriers when a visitor comes to the church. White Fields is assisting Japanese churches with a proven track record of relevant and efficient ministry to achieve these building goals.
Utsunomiya Church – Pastor Tomio Ohashi
Pastor Tomio has planted churches with White Fields for many years. His family has successfully planted four churches in recent years. This is the newest church building for their ministry. The left side of the building will be remodeled into a church gathering sanctuary with a counseling office. The right side will become a welcoming residence for Tomio and Pat. Your donation can help them remodel the left side of the building’s interior to support the church ministry.
In this ministry, the property has been purchased, and your donation will help fund the remodeling of the church side of the project. The walls and rooms in the left half of the house will be removed and constructed to provide meeting spaces for the congregation to gather.

There will also be a room behind the sanctuary that will feature a television screen, allowing young mothers with infants to go there with their babies and view and hear the worship service. The new church will seek to bring new believers to faith in Jesus Christ and lead them into discipleship, fostering growth in their knowledge of the Scriptures and Baptism as an outward sign of their faith in Jesus Christ. Pastor Tomio and the leadership team planting this church will seek to minister to the whole community through their outreach to families.
