Eager students devour the Word. That is what I encountered in Rukungiri, Uganda. Arriving at our humble classroom (plastic chairs, no desks, huddled in the back corner of the auditorium) we engaged for eight hours a day studying the Bible. Their laps were full of notebooks, Bibles, and extra paper. They had questions from beginning to end. They didn’t want to quit. These are the kind of students a teacher seeks to fill the classroom. They were gripped by the subject that would help them defend the truth of the Scriptures against imposters parading through their communities claiming to be “prophets” with a message from God. “Learning how to interpret the Bible has put me in a position to defend against false prophets,” the testimony of one of the students. Let’s Get Together
Now is a great time to gather and hear about what God is doing through the ministry of national pastors starting churches around the world. We have several events scheduled this Fall. Since 1953 White Fields has provided collaborative start-up support to pastors planting local churches among their own people in other parts of the world. You can join us at one of these events to hear about the impact this mission is having in extremely poor communities. Hear the testimonies of new believers that have come to faith and joined the church.
Uganda Outreach 2016
For the last few weeks our Director Steve Wheeler has been serving with our Country Director Onesimus in the southwestern town of Rukungiri, Uganda!
We have seen remarkable progress in the bolstering of the local church here! In Katobo we have been building a house for a member of the church named Christine. Christine suffered for many years from demonic oppression, as a part of this oppression she often had seizures which would leave her unconscious for minutes or even hours. As she was preparing dinner one night she had a seizure and fell face first into a fire. Her face was badly burned and scarred, from this episode, her family and friends despised and rejected Christine sending her away. Desiring to be free from this oppression she ran to Gods Embassy church where Onesimus pastors. Christine became a believer in Jesus and faithfully serves in the local church, she has a new family of friends that love her! [Read more…] about Uganda Outreach 2016
Weak Made Strong
There is power in the testimony of a child who has believed in the name of Jesus. I’m amazed at times at how God will work through the faith of a child and lead them to speak with clarity and boldness about the faith they have in Jesus. We should never underestimate the potential results in a ministry to children. The effort to bring them the gospel will produce tremendous rewards.
Children are like sponges absorbing everything around them and learning from the experiences they encounter. But, they are often neglected by “important” people because they are small seemingly insignificant and not able to accomplish great things. Those “important” people may assume that children do not possess significant money and power. Jesus rebuked his disciples when they treated the children as unimportant. “And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. – Mark 10:13-16

Break Down Barriers
Many barriers are broken down when the gospel is preached by a pastor who is recognized by the people. The Holy Spirit can use anyone to be a witness, but consider the strength of using an indigenous pastor starting a church among his own people. White Fields Ministry has been supporting, financially and through prayer, the ministry work of national pastors since 1953. We identify pastors who are ready to work full-time starting a new church in an unreached community of their own country. Through this partnership with the missionaries serving cross-culturally, the laborers are multiplied.

As we approach the end of the year, I am amazed at the course of world events. Refugees are fleeing their countries; civil wars are spilling over the borders into confrontations between super-powers, and the global economy continues to fluctuate erratically. But, in the midst of all this—God is at work amongst his people. I read the reports sent by our church planters—that you help support—and there is fantastic news every day.
In the Middle East, Pastor Maher shares that the Egyptian Bible study started by their church has grown from fifteen men to over 80 faithful believers. We are now prayerfully considering whether we can support a full-time pastor to lead this group into establishing a new independent church. Pastor Raed’s church, just one-year-old, has established a school for refugees fleeing Syria. They already have twenty-five first graders. These children are not allowed to attend the public school, so the ministry of this church has a huge impact on these families.
