One of the most compelling facts about the state of present-day Christianity is that it is growing by leaps and bounds in the third world. A growing number of observers clearly recognize, for example, the fact of the explosion of the church in the poorest continent on earth: Africa. For example, Drs. Mark Shaw and Steve Morad of Africa International University, Nairobi, Kenya, concurred in a slightly dated documentary by the Africa Inland Mission (AIM), that the African Church might be the most dynamic church in the world today (Leadership Development: Africa Inland Mission CD, 2003).

Cross the Bridge
We proclaim the gospel everywhere we go. That is our highest priority in ministry. Since the very beginning of the church, the Apostles gave us the example to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to everyone we meet.

Pastor Aye Min Htun
Pastor Aye Min Htun’s Testimony
I was born on March 15, 1984, in Hlaingtazar town. My parents are U Htun Kyi and Daw Tantan. I was raised Buddhist until my mother became a Christian. My mother was the first among our family to believe in Jesus Christ in 2006. Sometimes, my Mom told us about Jesus, but until 2010, I was a Buddhist. Pastor Aih Kham Ko came and shared the gospel with us. After two years of marriage, we had one daughter who had suffered from heart attacks since she was born. Many times, we had to bring her to the hospital, and we went through many difficulties and hard times. Believers were praying hard for my daughter and my family. After that, we experienced the goodness of God and His salvation. Praise the Lord. My wife and I believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior. Both of us were baptized in 2010 by Pastor Thawng Nei Bil. When I became a Christian, I felt that the Lord was calling me to be a witness for Him and preach to my people, so I became involved in an outreach ministry to non-Christians around us.
I attended an education program from Elementary to High School at No. (3) High School, Hlaingtayar Township, Yangon. I felt in my heart that I had a responsibility for my people, specifically those who did not know the love of God and the salvation of Jesus Christ. I have the vision to plant a church in the Yoo Lee area, Hlaingtazar township, where many non-Christians are living, mostly poor people. The Burmese tribe has the highest percentage in the area, and there are some small other tribes too. I have studied and prayed about this area since last year; my overseer, Pastor Thawng Nei Bil, came to investigate this location two times, and I looked for a house to rent. We found one apartment for rent, and I will be moving in January 2020. Please pray for me as I begin as a new church planter under the White Fields Ministry. Thank you very much. May God bless you all.
Recent Ministry:
We invited twelve people and taught about salvation. Four received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and were baptized. The rest were interested in hearing the good news and joined our Sunday worship service. I hope they may truly believe in Jesus Christ and be saved.
Daw Tan was one of the four who was interested in the salvation story and believed in Jesus. She asked us to pray for her two sons: the elder son is paralyzed and cannot walk properly, and the younger has had mental problems since birth. They need our prayers.
- Give thanks to God for our weekly programs and the success of the gospel gatherings.
- Please give thanks to God for keeping us safe.
- Please pray continually for our country so that the Lord may send us peace and freedom.
Ongoing Ministry for Your Prayers:
From October 21-27, our area was flooded, and all the houses of my members, including myself, were full of water, so we were in a very difficult situation. Our overseers and co-workers came and helped us with rice, cooking oil, and other necessities. We had to stay together with many people for one week at the Buddhist Temple. God is always good toward His children.
We often face difficulties and disappointments, such as sickness, opposition, and pressures, but the Lord is with us and delivers us from them. My wife was suffering from womb disease and was in the hospital for two weeks. She was discharged and is much better.
I had the opportunity to meet and share the gospel with Daw Tan, Ma Oo, Aung Min, Za Tun, U Khin, Ma Khin, and Ma Pheo. They were all interested in my sharing and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. They all said that they truly believe in Jesus Christ and have confidence that they have eternal life.
- Give thanks to God for the safety of our members and weekly services.
- Please pray for those who lost material possessions in the flood.
- Please pray for the new believers.
- Please pray continually for the peace and freedom of our country.
There has been a lot of rain and flooding in our area for many days; some of my members’ houses were affected, and the flood spoiled food, furniture, and clothing. Among the many hardships, God is very good that we could continue our weekly worship service and prayer meetings. Praise His Holy Name.
In my outreach ministry, the Lord opened a door for me to meet some new non-Christian young men. They were Ma Ih Ih Pyew, Ma Inh Phu San, and Ko Maung Tin. I shared the gospel with them. These three young people were so interested in my gospel sharing that they also started to join our worship service on Sundays.
We are celebrating the testimony of a new believer. A widow shared, “I was in a very difficult situation; I had no one to help me. I used to harvest some water grass on the roadsides to cook it so I could eat it every day. My life was hopeless, and many times, I wished that I would die rather than keep living. But then I heard the gospel from the church members, and now I praise God because I found Jesus, who saved me and helped me. So, I have confidence and am full of hope in my life.”
The church is a frontline source of relief to our community’s lost and hopeless people, especially in hard times. Often, we become the helping hand of the Lord, and the people receive the resources in the name of Jesus from the believers.
I have a plan to conduct a gospel rally at least one day every month. We aim to reach many new people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for our church members as they invite neighbors to attend the gospel events.
I praise and thank God for hearing our prayers and for keeping all my members safe. Though we face many hardships, the Lord protects us and provides our daily needs through His people. Praise the Lord. We have been able to meet on Sundays for our weekly services: home cells, prayer meetings, Bible study programs, and worship services.
By the grace of God, we can conduct gospel teaching, and non-Christians can join us. All who attended expressed interest in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We pray that the gospel will touch their hearts and encourage them to come to Jesus Christ soon.
There was a lot of dengue fever in the Yangon area, and we sorrow that the four-year-old daughter of a member passed away from dengue fever. Her parents could not afford to buy a tomb, but we thank God that my overseer, pastor Thawng, asked his members to donate enough funds to cover all funeral expenses. Praise the Lord. Many of my members were affected and were in a challenging situation this year from the flood. Please pray for them also.
I plan to conduct a gospel rally at least once a month. We aim to reach non-Christians with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- I thank God for the safety of all my members and the success of our gospel training under many pressures.
- Pray that we can reach new people so that God may open their hearts.
- Pray for those affected by the flood; they lost all their properties.
- Pray continually for the peace of our country. We trust in God, and He alone can change our country.
Continued Ministry for Your Prayers:
I give thanks to God for His goodness toward His children. By the protection of God, we could continue our weekly services, which were home cells, prayer meetings, visiting programs, and Sunday worship services. In my outreach ministry, I met three women in one house and shared the gospel with them: Daw Ohn Kyi, Daw Hla Aye, and Ma Khin Myat. The Holy Spirit moved in their hearts, and they responded that they were willing to know more about the salvation story and would join our Sunday worship service. Daw Ohn Kyi was 80 years old when I met her. She could not walk properly, and I prayed for her health; after two days, she was getting much better, and she could walk properly. Ma Hla Aye’s son, 15 years old, ran away without informing his parents, and they had no contact with him for several weeks. They requested that I pray for their son so that he may be found. I prayed for him, and after one week, their son returned home. They were delighted. I told them our God is mighty; He alone is the Creator and controller of everything.
I plan to conduct gospel camping during the water festival holidays. We are inviting non-Christians. Please pray that more people may know God and His salvation.
Give thanks to God for our weekly services and outreach ministry. Give thanks to God for the three women and pray that they may come to Christ and be saved. Please pray for my plan to conduct gospel camping during the water festival. Please continue to pray for our country, especially for political crisis and peace.
Despite the political problems, our small new church weekly ministry has continued because of your prayers. Though our outside evangelism is limited, I strive to reach new people and gather to worship God on Sundays.
I continue to conduct a home cell program at member Ma Ih’s house; her husband is not a Christian, but when we shared our prayer items, her husband requested prayer for the success of his business. He could not get profits in his own business, but two days after our prayers, he told me, “God answered our prayers, and now my business is a success.” The Lord provided for his needs with answered prayer, and he is ready to believe in God; I am now teaching him the gospel. Praise the Lord.
The Lord is faithful in answering prayers; my members have a challenging situation with their daily meals; sometimes, they eat only porridge, but the Lord used the women’s group of Insein Biblical Presbyterian Church to provide rice and distribute it to all our church members.
We have about fifty members now. Three young men will be baptized soon: Ko Moe Lee, Ko Piang Kyi, and Ko Myiang Kyi Ngi; they have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Praise the Lord.
Thanks to God for answering our prayers, for the one man ready to receive Christ as his own Savior and Lord. Thank God that the three young men are prepared to take baptism. Pray for my plan to conduct gospel camping during the water festival. Pray for our country, for political peace.
By the grace of God, we look forward to the blessed New Year 2024. Sometimes, I hesitate to share the gospel with new people, but I am encouraged to have the boldness to share the gospel when I remember from the Bible: “Then spoke the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision. Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace; For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have many people in this city.” KJV (Acts 17:9-10). The Lord sends people with health, financial, social life, and shelter problems who come to church to meet their needs, which means they see God’s helping hand. We pray for them, and God answers our prayers that we can help solve many of their problems. All glory be to God the Father. Thank you for your prayers and financial support for my family and ministry. May the Lord continue to bless you.
Prayer Request:
Give thanks to God for the success of our New Year celebrations and weekly services and programs. Pray for the Water Festival holidays when we plan to conduct gospel camping. Pray for our country for political crisis and peace. Pray for a permanent land and house for our worship place.
New Year greetings to all of you, my prayer partners. May the new blessings be poured upon you all. My Christmas season ministry was doing well; we celebrated Christmas, and about 250 people came. They all were non-Christians. Our weekly services were doing well, too. Praise the Lord.
In November 2023, I contacted some non-Christians and shared the gospel. One of them was the family of Ma Tandar Htun. The health of their family members was not good; Ma Tandar Htun’s mother has diabetes, her daughter suffers from hard breathing, and her small son has TB disease; they are in a challenging situation. My member Ma Khin Tan Myint brought them to my church, and we prayed for their physical and spiritual health. It was amazing that God healed them so they could continue coming to my church every Sunday. They said they believed in Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord.
Due to your prayer help, one man who refused the gospel when I first met him came back from Shan State and now believes in Jesus Christ. When he was in a challenging situation while he was staying in Shan state, because of fighting, he was saved by Jesus; he shared with me. He confessed that he believes in Jesus Christ and joined the church. The Lord saved three persons, Maung Kyaw Zaw, Maung Balah, and Ma Kyi Kyi Maw; they were baptized on January 1, 2024 (New Year) by my overseer, Pastor Thawng Nei Bil.
Thanks to God for our Christmas season ministry and celebrations! Thanks to God for the conversion of three persons. Pray for my member’s daily food and the weekly programs. Pray for the peace and freedom of Myanmar.
Greetings to you all in the name of Jesus Christ. Under many pressures, the Lord blessed my ministry this month so that we could continue our weekly programs regularly including prayer meetings, Bible reading time, and Sunday worship meetings. I also do outreach during the weekdays. We were very happy to continue our weekly services without fail. How God is good towards His children all the time. He cares, feeds, and provides for us.
I praise and thank God that I met some people in my outreach ministry, namely two young men, Ko Chan Mih and Ko We We Aung. I shared the gospel with them, after sharing three times, both of them have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. They will take baptism soon.
Ma Ih Ih Naing and Maung Hung Thang accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord this summer and were baptized by my overseer Pastor Thawng Nei Bil.
Ma Ih Ih Naing’s testimony from last month’s report: “Among the new believers in Yaki is a woman named Ma (Ms). Ih Ih Naing, who had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior this summer. When I met her, she had a problem with debt. She had made a guarantee and borrowed a large amount of money from a family for her friend. But her friend had run away, several months had passed and Ih Ih was not able to contact her friend anymore. Her debtors had asked her to repay the money back. Ih Ih was disappointed and very worried about what to do. It was during this time that I shared with her about Jesus and asked her to pray for her problems. She prayed, Jesus, if you are a true and living God, please solve my problem as soon as possible and I will believe you and worship you. After two weeks, she was able to contact her friend and she repaid the debt completely. So, Ma Ih Ih Naing received Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord.”
I am recruiting young people for the football team and they joined the fellowship football tournament and got third place. Three of them are my church members and believers, the other eleven are non-Christians. They attend my church’s Sunday service regularly. We hope and pray that they may know and accept Jesus Christ in the near future. This outreach is one of our key ways to draw the youth. It is good because then they all participate in the Youth Fellowship worship services and activities. I visit the Yulee area once a week for evangelism and to meet with my members there.
My eldest daughter has been suffering from heart attacks since her childhood. Recently her disease flared again, and she went to the hospital. After two days, she was getting better and has been discharged from the hospital. Praise the Lord!
- Give thanks to God for the conversion and baptism of two persons. Pray that they may grow in spiritual life.
- Give thanks to God for the success of the football team; it is a good outreach to share with young people the gospel of Jesus Christ. Give thanks to God for the youth believers who are reaching their friends with the gospel.
- Pray for the peace and freedom of Myanmar.
- Pray for my member’s daily food; it rained heavily and flooded, destroying their properties. Pray for their survival.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside the still water.”

Pastor Paw Oo
Pastor Paw’s Testimony
I was born on January 1, 1969, at Eh Thar Duh Chaung village, Yalun township, Delta Area. My parents were U San Thein and Daw Yin Shwe; my family has eight brothers and sisters. I am the fourth son. When I was born, my family was an active Buddhist family. My father was a local pharmacy doctor, and my mother was a gardener. I was taught Buddhism from childhood and became a staunch Buddhist.
I attended government education from elementary to high school in Hintarah town, Ayawady division (Delta Area). My parents always encouraged me to be a monk. I entered one monastery and became a monk in 1998. I preached Buddhist beliefs to our people and built one Buddhist Temple. I served as a Buddhist monk for ten years. During this time, I had no peace and no reality in my heart; my confidence in life after death was not there. So I resigned.
After I had resigned, I went to my relatives in Shwe Pyi Thar, Yangon. In the year 2000, I heard a pastor preach from the book of John; he read verse 14:6, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” This passage touched my heart deeply, and I believed it. An evangelist named Benjamin shared about Jesus and the salvation story. I was touched and decided to believe in Christ. I received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and Lord. I was baptized on February 13, 2011. After that, I joined the Myanmar Power Mission Training School for one year. I was appointed as a church planter on June 1, 2012, by the Myanmar Christian Mission. I attended the Word Bible Seminary from 2013-2014, and I completed a Bachelor of Ministry degree and, after that, a Master of Ministry. My wife’s name is Daw (Mrs.) Saw Si Hlaing (SiSi). We have no children.
I felt in my heart that I have a responsibility for my people, specifically those who do not know the love of God and the salvation of Jesus Christ. The love of God compels me to be a witness for Him throughout my life. Thus, I have been sharing the gospel with non-Christians in Htan Chauk Pyin, Shwepyithar Township, Yangon. The Lord saves souls through my ministry. Praise the Lord. In my area, there are mixed tribes; they are the Karen tribe, which is about twenty percent, Burmese is sixty percent, and the remaining twenty percent are other ethnicities. I rent a house for the worship service and as my family residence. I reach my community by visiting and praying for the people and inviting them to attend the worship service. Presently, I have about thirty to forty attendants every Sunday. Please continue to pray for me and my ministry. Thank you very much. May God bless you all.
Recent Ministry:
God allowed me to conduct gospel teaching from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Kha Nawng village, Hlegu township, Yangon division. Thirty people came and joined us; most were non-Christians. It was amazing that eleven people believed in Jesus Christ. Amongst them was Daw Swee Myih, 70 years old, who passed away the following week. The new converts were baptized on Christmas day. For Christmas celebrations, we conducted preaching, teaching, and fun times.
- Give thanks to God for the new converts, and pray that they may truly believe in Christ.
- Give thanks to God for our weekly services and the success of the gospel teaching program at Kha Nawng village, Yangon Division.
- Pray for the new people who heard the gospel during the Christmas season.
- Please pray for us.
Ongoing Ministry for Your Prayers:
I had the opportunity to teach at three places of mission fields. I taught gospel together with Pastor Tin Maung Swee at 3 Block of Swelynban, Hlaintazar, where forty people came and attended our gospel teaching. Praise the Lord. Some were touched by the Holy Spirit. Second, I visited and taught the gospel of Jesus Christ to Kha Naung village, Hlegu township, where twenty people gathered; they all were of Buddhist background. Third, I also taught salvation history to Hlawka, Shwepyithat township, where forty-five people came and listened to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Some of them have received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Praise the Lord. We will continue to teach more about salvation and doctrines
- Please give thanks to God for our weekly services and the success of the Gospel teaching program at three different places.
- Pray also for reaching more new people during the Christmas season and that more people may interested in hearing the gospel.
- Please pray for my member’s daily survival and jobs.
- Please continue to pray for our country, we need peace and freedom.
Greetings to you all in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray that the Lord may bless you and give you peace to everyone. Your prayer help is very effective in my ministry. There have been many disasters in our country, such as famines, civil war, infectious diseases, and floods from storms. Everywhere in our country, there are dangers that cause trouble. The rainy season is a difficult season in our country. The ministry of the church becomes the first line of relief for the community when they are suffering.
Our weekly programs, such as home fellowships, prayer meetings, and worship services, have been regularly attended. I have also been meeting new neighbors as they move in around us. I meet with them to share the gospel and pray for them. This past month, I invited some new people to attend meetings at our church and taught about salvation. I thank God that some of them were interested in Jesus Christ. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will open their hearts to understand the gospel and receive Jesus Christ.
God answered our prayers, and I was able to conduct a gospel campaign in Darephu village, Hlegu township. It was very good that 25 people came and joined us, they all were non-Christians. They were happy to hear about the living God and the salvation story of Jesus Christ. Three of them received Jesus by faith and they are preparing to be baptized at our next baptism service. The second training was conducted in Hlawka, Swepithar (my home town). Four people received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. They also are ready to be baptized. Praise the Lord.
- Please give thanks to God for our weekly services and the success of two gospel campaigns in different areas.
- Please give thanks to God for our weekly programs and gospel outreach programs.
- Pray that we may reach more new people, so the Lord can open their hearts to the gospel.
- Please pray for our country; we need peace and freedom.
Though limited in many ways, we continue our weekly services, such as home cells, prayer meetings, and worship services. Thank you for your prayers.
By the grace of God, I conducted gospel teaching in two places: one for an entire day at my place and the other in Hlawka, Swepithar township. About 45 people joined us, most of them non-Christians. I praise God that they were interested and happy to hear my teaching. We continue to follow up and hope they all may come to faith one day.
- We thank God for our weekly services and the success of our gospel teaching.
- Pray for the people with whom we share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Pray for more outreach, so the Lord may open hearts to the gospel.
- Pray for our country as the crisis is increasing, and most are having difficulty with survival.
Recently, several pastors, including Paw Oo, met with the Whitefields Field Director, Pastor Thawng, to baptize several members of their churches. Citizens of Myanmar have navigating a civil war over the last couples of years. I can only imagine how that must affect people living there now. It warms my heart that Paw Oo and Thawn were able to impact the lives of residents.
The Lord is faithful in keeping and feeding His children even in times of difficulty. By the grace of God, my family and all my members’ families are safe. Our weekly services are doing well, and we can continue our prayer meetings, home cells, and worship services regularly.
We conducted a salvation teaching program for new believers and non-Christians during the water festival holidays. Nine non-Christians joined us. James and I taught adults, and Miss Flora taught children. We emphasized the salvation story.
I also went to another place in Dala township, Takyi Ward, and taught about the salvation of Jesus Christ at one church gathering. About fifty people attended the gospel rally on April 27, 2024. Praise God that people are interested in hearing what I am sharing.
Praise God for the successful gospel training during the water festival holidays. Praise God for our weekly services, which were done regularly. Pray for the extension of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for our country to cease civil war and to have peace.
Your prayer is very effective in ensuring that we are safe. Our weekly services, such as home cells, prayer meetings, and worship services, are done regularly. Our prayer meeting is conducted every Friday. Several young people from our area ran to another place because of the new military law. Our situation is worse because all the prices are very high, and finding a job is very hard, too. People are struggling in their daily lives. Pray for us and our country.
I had the opportunity to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ to one mission church. I praise God that thirty people gathered. Amongst them, three people received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. The mission church will take care of them. I also conducted one day of training at Winber Housing apartment. Ten people attended and listened to my sharing. They were Buddhists. Though they did not respond, they listened to me with interest. Please pray for them, too.
I plan to conduct gospel camping during the water festival holidays. We will invite people to church. Please pray that nothing will hinder our programs.
Give thanks to God for the conversion of three people to Christ and pray that they may grow in faith. Give thanks to God also for our weekly services, as we can meet regularly. Pray for my outreach ministry that the Lord may open more doors for me. Please pray for our country; only God can change and give us peace.
Update from Pastor Paw Oo
Greetings to you all in the name of Jesus Christ. Due to your prayer help, my ministry is doing well, and we can conduct worship services and prayer meetings regularly. We need to do God’s ministry in or out of season, as Jesus said, “I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves” KJV; (Matthew 10:16).
I was invited and conducted a gospel training for ten non-Christians gathering at Hlawka, Swepithar township, on February 4, 2024. I taught the whole day about salvation compared with Buddhist belief; they were pleased to hear it. I also had the opportunity to reach out to more people at Yile Kyautdan, TanLin township; 35 people were gathering in one place. They were both Indians and Burmese; I taught them the whole day about the salvation story, and they responded to me by some people that they had first heard about it, and they were interested in knowing more about Jesus and His salvation story.
We thank God for our weekly services, which we do regularly. Give thanks to God for the success of two gospel campaigns in different places. Pray for those who heard the gospel that they may come to know Jesus Christ and accept Him as their Savior and Lord. Pray for our country; only God can change and give us peace.
Prayer requests:
Due to your prayer help, my church’s weekly worship services, prayer meetings, and home cells were held regularly. Though our political problem is not changing, the Lord allowed us to reach new people. I conducted a one-day gospel campaign from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on January 19. Twenty-three people joined us; amongst them, 15 people are of non-Christian background. Praise the Lord that Daw Thidar, Daw Chaw, Sandar, and U Kyaw San Htay were interested in my teaching. They promised to join our home cell programs and Sunday worship services. I was invited to teach the salvation story at Ye-kyaw village, Hlawka, on January 24. I had the opportunity to teach the great salvation of Jesus Christ to fifty new people whom we invited to join our training. I hope they all may repent and believe in Jesus Christ.
Give thanks to God for our weekly services.Give thanks to God also for the success of two gospel campaigns.Pray that God may open more doors for outreach evangelism.Pray for our country; only God can change and give us peace.
I bless you all in the Name of Jesus Christ. May the Lord bless you with abundant blessings in this New Year 2024. Your prayer changes things in ministry. In the last week of October 2023, my church was closed by authorities. We were apprehensive about it, and I requested my overseers and all prayer partners to pray hard for us. The Lord answered our prayers. I met the leader of authorities in our area, and he allowed me to re-open for worship service. Praise the Lord. In November and December 2023, we could continue our weekly ministries without fail. I had reached out to three new family members near our place. I meet them and teach salvation stories every Sunday afternoon. They joined our worship service on Sunday. Pray that they may genuinely believe in Jesus Christ.
We celebrated Christmas on December 24, and about 80 people came and joined us. I also invited our area authorities and gave them Christmas gifts; they were pleased. We also celebrated New Year on January 1, 2024, with my neighbors and members. Praise God that He provided all our needs and kept us safe. I also plan to conduct gospel camping in the early month of 2024 and hope to invite at least 25 new people. Pray for us.
Thanks to God for the re-opening of our worship service. Thanks to God also for the success of our Christmas season services. Pray for the gospel camping for non-Christians. Pray for the ministry in the new year. Pray for the peace and freedom of our country, Myanmar.
I would like to express my thanks for all of your prayers and financial support. Due to your prayers, my family and all my church members are doing well and are safe from all kinds of evil and illness. There are tropical diseases in our area, such as eye diseases, flu, dysentery, and fever.
I did my best to reach some new people by visiting neighbors with gifts of rice. Insein Church helped us with some bags of rice, and I shared with the people about the story of Jesus Christ. I was invited to share at a gospel rally which was conducted by my friend Yekyaw Ukphu. It is about a thirty-minute drive from my place. I thank God that many came and were interested in my teaching.
We ask for a special prayer request of U. (Mr) Maung San and Daw (Mrs.) Mar Mergret, they are Burmese nationals. Their house was destroyed and they were chased out of the place because it belongs to one rich man. He had allowed them to stay a build a small house there for many years and many poor people had made tents and stayed there. Maung’s family are faithful members and were converted from Buddhism. They need a house for their family, and they tried to build a small tent. Pray for them. They need a house for their family residence.
Our weekly prayers occur regularly, including the home cells, prayer meetings, and Sunday services. I visit my members and pray for their family’s daily needs. Pray that we can continue in our ministry without hindrance. Some of my new converts went back to their hometown in the Delta area, if they can get a job, they will return to Yangon again.
I had the opportunity to teach the gospel to seventy people Cherry Street, Planning Ward, South Oklapah, Yangon this past month. I also preached the gospel to Alat Chaung, Ngiang Dung Village in the Delta area, about ninety people were gathered there. They were all very happy and listened, I also was happy for this opportunity.
- Give thanks to God for the two places where I had the opportunity to hold a gospel rally and preach the whole day.
- Give thanks to God for our weekly services and the safety of our members.
- Pray for my member’s daily food. Pray that they may grow in faith.
- Pray for our new church building fund, and for the peace and freedom of Myanmar.
- Pray for my members’ daily living; many are finding it difficult in daily survival and are struggling for food.
- Pray for our country, we trust in God that He alone can change our country
Arnel Gabon
Pastor Gabon’s Testimony
After my conversion, I became active in my home church, participating in the ministries of evangelism and Bible studies, and I participated in youth activities. One day during our fellowship, we were going to do a personal devotion, and I meditated on the passage of Acts 1:8, which says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” From that passage, I was fully convinced that the work of the Lord is huge, and I felt that God was calling me to be a witness to his wonderful word of life. I shared with the church leaders that I should do more for the Lord, and they prayed for me. Eight months later, with the advice and support of the church, I decided to go to the Bible College to further my training and preparation for the ministry that God called me to do, which was in the year 2000. After I graduated from the Bible School, I was privileged to work at one of the Christian companies whose mission is to help people in all aspects of life. I thank the Lord for almost ten years of experience working in the community as a minister of the gospel, and I was able to plant a church by God’s grace. Joy, excitement, and God’s calling are the reasons why I keep doing God’s ministry; I find so much meaning and fulfillment in serving the Lord. I praise God for how he uses other people and circumstances to equip and prepare me to do even more for His kingdom’s purposes.
Recent Ministry:
Cultivating a Thankful Heart
A thankful heart is a grateful heart. Every last week of the month, we come together to thank God for our blessings. Embracing an attitude of thankfulness and expressing gratitude to one another helps us focus on the positive aspects of life, even during difficult times. It shifts our mindset from scarcity to abundance and fosters a sense of contentment.
We all deeply enjoy hearing stories of how we have impacted others. Many were moved to tears, overwhelmed by the joy of knowing we were a blessing to them. Through this experience, we’ve learned that showing appreciation to others strengthens relationships and builds mutual respect. When people feel valued and recognized, it enhances trust and emotional connection.
Glory to God for allowing us to experience this as a church family. Above all, we give thanks and praise to God for who He is and all that He has done for us.
Building Strong Families Through God’s Word
We praise God for His wisdom, which has allowed our Bible study to take place in homes and communities. Our weekly Bible study members expressed a desire for the entire family to hear and learn from God’s word together, an excellent opportunity for families to gather, fellowship, build relationships, and connect personally with Scripture.
It’s also a fulfilling experience for the church, as we can now connect, evangelize, and disciple families. This month, we visited 20 families in different communities. Each of these families has unique dreams, stories, and struggles, yet through Bible study, we can come together to pray, discuss, and grow in faith, establishing a strong spiritual foundation for family life. We pray that even more homes will open to this opportunity.
The Power of Baptism in the Community
Every week, we eagerly look forward to leading care groups in the community and witnessing God’s powerful work in the people’s lives. We currently have seven care groups meeting each week, and 16 individuals are undergoing baptism classes. We praise God for these individuals who are now surrendering their lives to Jesus through water baptism.
What once seemed like a life without meaning is now filled with purpose. Where there was hopelessness, now there is hope. We have been privileged to witness the transformation in their lives. God’s word has the power to change, and its impact is seen in their homes and the community.
Though many of them face pressure from their families and communities, as being baptized is seen as a change in religion, they have endured bullying and persecution. Yet, amid these trials, God strengthens them through weekly fellowship, prayer, and His word, guiding them on their faith journey.
God’s Provision and Generosity in the Children’s Ministry
Week after week, the community witnesses the work we’re doing in the children’s ministry, and as I observe, this has had a powerful influence on them. It has inspired many to get involved. Some have donated chairs, others have provided food for the children, and many parents now stay to listen to the Bible sharing.
God continues to provide for the needs of our children’s ministry every week. He strengthens and sustains the volunteers, giving them the wisdom and energy to serve. They are always willing to give their time, energy, and resources to bless these children. We praise God for the generosity of the people in the community. Understanding God’s purpose fuels our passion to help those in need, and through this ministry, we see the power of that passion come to life.
Merlinda’s Journey of Faith and Healing
Experiencing God’s care on a personal level can be incredibly comforting and strengthening. We have heard many testimonies of struggles and hardships—feelings of being unloved, difficulties in marriage, challenges in raising children, and the sense of being unimportant. These burdens often lead people to believe that their lives are not worth celebrating.
Merlinda, a 28-year-old single mother of two, shared her personal struggles with us. She grew up living alone and became involved in numerous vices starting at the age of 14, after being separated from her parents. She became pregnant and, for a time, considered aborting her child, feeling abandoned, unloved, and miserable. But as she reflected, Merlinda realized that if she didn’t love her child, who would?
She faithfully attended Bible study, keeping her story to herself at first. But two months later, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Now, Merlinda has opened up about her past, understanding deeply that God values her and has made her His child.
She is excited to attend our weekly Bible sharing and actively participate in discussions. Merlinda is eager to learn more about God’s Word so that she can properly guide her children and raise them in His love.
Youth Group Outreach
Games are a powerful tool for connecting people, especially the youth. Through friendly competition, teamwork, and shared experiences, games break down barriers and foster trust. For youth groups, they create an ideal environment where new friendships can form naturally. This atmosphere also makes it easier for participants to open up and engage in meaningful conversations.
This month, four new members joined the group, and we praise God for the opportunity to share the gospel in such an effective and enjoyable way. Games not only bring fun but also serve as a bridge to deeper discussions about Christ’s love.
By engaging in activities together, the youth strengthen bonds, create unity, and cultivate an inviting space where everyone feels welcome. Looking ahead, their goal is to welcome even more young people next month and build lasting friendships that center around faith and fellowship.
Celebrating Three Years of Faithfulness and Unity at Bridge Community Fellowship
Bridge Community Fellowship joyfully celebrates its third church anniversary, a milestone marked by deep gratitude and praise for God’s abundant blessings and unwavering faithfulness. We give thanks for His guidance, which has sustained and grown our community, bringing together members and friends who have shared in this journey of faith. This anniversary stands as a testament to God’s enduring love and grace, as we look ahead with hope and unity, bound by His promises and purpose. May God’s people remain steadfast in their commitment to serve the King, giving their best to reach out and proclaim God’s salvation to those in the community, among friends, and loved ones. Let us stay faithful to the faithful God, eagerly anticipating the blessings ahead. Praise God!
Ministry to Widows Through Online Fellowship
It is a privilege to minister to widows through our online fellowship. Throughout Scripture, widows are often mentioned alongside orphans and the poor, highlighting the vulnerable groups for whom God’s people are called to care. God’s heart for widows is clear in verses such as Psalm 68:5, which describes Him as a “father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,” and James 1:27, which reminds us that pure religion is to care for orphans and widows in their distress.
Life can be particularly difficult for those who are alone. Single mothers, especially, often experience loneliness as their children grow and form their own families. Yet, through God’s Word and our weekly online fellowship, the burden of isolation is lightened. Together, we laugh, share insights from Scripture, and discuss the challenges of the week. This fellowship bridges the gap and fulfills God’s purpose of having one another. Each woman is assigned a week to share a passage from Scripture as our devotional. Praise God for this group of women who deeply love His Word.
Whole Community Transformation
God is clearly at work in the lives of the people in this community. Their eagerness to listen and actively participate in our weekly meetings is evidence of God’s visible presence.
We are excited to see this community become our next church plant soon. The transformation we have witnessed in their lives is undeniable and fills us with hope for what will come. What was once a dream—a distant vision of a new church rising from the seeds of faith—now feels within reach as the community.
It was an honor and privilege to have Pastor Cris visit us and share the gospel. His words carried the weight of truth and the warmth of love, resonating deeply with everyone present. He sowed seeds of hope and faith from God’s word that excite and motivate a journey of moral recovery. I praise God for the positive response.
I desire to reach out, share the gospel, and lead a thriving community of believers eager to grow and serve the Lord wholeheartedly. We confidently move forward, knowing that God is leading. The path ahead is bright, and we are filled with anticipation for the days to come as we witness the birth of a new plant church in this blessed community.
- Pray for spiritual renewal and growth.
- Pray for all volunteers and leaders who are part of this mission.
- Pray for God’s provision to prepare the meeting place for our Sunday worship.
A Journey of Growth and Support for Helona
In the bustling city of Mandaue, where everyone is constantly on the go, Helona felt lost. She had recently moved to the city for work, leaving behind her family and friends. The isolation was overwhelming, and although she tried to make new friends at work, the connections were shallow. Every day, she would return to her apartment feeling more alone than the day before.
One Saturday, Helona noticed that there were groups of women gathering, so she decided to join, hoping that it could ease her loneliness and find some friends to talk to. The following week, Helona attended her first life group meeting. The group was small, just eight people, but the atmosphere was welcoming. They started with a prayer and then discussed the lesson they heard from the previous Saturday. The conversation was lively, with everyone contributing their thoughts and experiences. Helona was surprised at how open everyone was, sharing their struggles, victories, and lessons learned without any hesitation.
As the weeks passed, Helona began noticing a change in herself. The life group quickly became a refuge for her, a community where she felt understood and supported. Unlike the fleeting conversations at work, the relationships she was building here were deep and meaningful. The group wasn’t just about discussing the Bible; it was about living life together through the highs and the lows.
Over time, Helona realized that life group wasn’t just about receiving but also about giving. She found herself more open to helping others, whether it was through words of encouragement, sharing her own experiences, or simply being present. The group became a safe space where everyone could grow together, learning from each other’s wisdom and experiences.
Through her life group, Helona found a renewed sense of purpose and belonging. The friendships she formed were more than just social connections; they were spiritual bonds that strengthened her faith and enriched her life. The life group became her extended family, where she could be herself, grow in her faith, and walk through life with others, even though her family was away from her.
In the end, Helona’s story is a testament to the profound impact life groups can have. They offer more than just fellowship; they provide a foundation of support, accountability, and spiritual growth that can transform lives. For Helona, joining a life group wasn’t just a decision; it was a lifeline that led her to a place of connection, growth, and a faithful family of community.
Answered Prayer
We praise the Lord for the incredible favor shown to our Children’s Ministry. For years, we dreamed of creating a space where our children could feel safe, loved, and close to God. We prayed consistently, asking God to provide a safe place for our children to learn and grow.
One Saturday morning, after our Bible study, we received an unexpected call from Terisa, the owner of a house. She offered us one of her rooms to use for our Children’s ministry. It was an answer to our prayers, a beautiful and timely provision from the Lord. Though the room needed some renovations, fresh paint, new lights, chairs, and other materials—we didn’t hesitate to use it, especially since the rainy season was upon us.
This place has become a sanctuary of peace and love, a tangible reminder of God’s provision and care for His people. The parents in our community rejoice with us, grateful that their children now have a safe space where they won’t be tempted to run outside. We continue to praise God for this wonderful provision and for answering our prayers unexpectedly and beautifully.
- Pray for the salvation of these children and their families.
- Pray for the safety of the children and their families.
- Pray for God’s provision for our feeding ministry and materials for renovation.
Highest Calling
Christy had always felt a pull towards something more significant than herself but could not pinpoint it. Despite having a good job, friends, and a comfortable lifestyle, she felt lost and unfulfilled. Deep down, she knew something was missing. One day, I approached Christy and asked if she would be interested in joining a small group focused on studying the Bible and sharing its teachings with others. Though nervous, Christy agreed, sincerely wanting to be more involved.
As she began sharing God’s word with others, Christy experienced a profound transformation. She saw how the teachings of the Bible brought hope to those who were struggling, just as they had for her. The more she preached and shared, the more her faith grew. She found herself becoming more patient, compassionate, and understanding.
Christy’s life began to change in tangible ways. She developed a sense of purpose she had never known before. She started volunteering in one of our communities, teaching and helping those in need and offering encouragement and support. Her relationships deepened, and she found joy in assisting others to discover the peace and fulfillment she had found.
Through teaching God’s word, Christy helped others grow in their faith and found her life enriched in ways she never imagined. The more she gave, the more she received. Her faith journey became a testimony to the transformative power of God’s word, showing that when we open our hearts to His teachings, we can find the true meaning and purpose we’ve been searching for. Proclaiming God’s word is the highest calling.
- Pray for wisdom as she continues to be used by God
- Pray for provision and good health and for safety in her travel to attend and be part of God’s ministry
- Pray for her family that they will support her desire and not hinder her passion to share God’s word.
Ongoing Ministry for Your Prayers:
As a community of believers, this month’s care group significantly encouraged and prayed.
My right-hand buddy Alex was eager to talk about his physical struggles. He asks why God permits suffering and why God did not grant his request for total recovery. Alex opened up about his struggles and concerns in this small group. He freely shared how many times he had struggled with God. Alex overheard people encouraging one another and was reassured that we would bring his struggles to God in prayer.
Sally also had a chance to tell her experience. She was raised a Muslim and adhered to all Muslim customs with diligence. She changed as she came to know the Lord Jesus Christ, but the journey has difficulties. Her belief in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior causes her to suffer from insults from her brother and sister. For quite some time, she has kept it confidential. Her family first accepted her decision and was supportive, but with time, they started to criticize and disparage her. However, this group helps Sally feel appreciated and comfortable enough to discuss her struggles.
We concluded by praying together for a while. It has been a lovely experience supporting one another through various life stages. We thank God for allowing us to hear their inspiring tales of suffering, insults, and mockery, leading to triumph via His grace. Despite ongoing struggles, they maintain faith that God’s grace will be enough at every turn. While the Christian path might be simple for some, it is difficult for many, yet it also leads to a profound and intimate experience of God’s faithfulness. I’m praying more couples will attend our upcoming gathering.
Witnessing the commitment and change of ministry teams is inspirational.
These teams show amazing dedication and enthusiasm for their work. What kindles this passion is that they remain unwavering because of God’s trustworthy promise. Their motivation and skill development are greatly enhanced by the time we spend guiding and instructing them in God’s Word. Every meeting is evidence of their dedication to becoming channels for God’s kingdom. Team members honestly discuss the challenges of leading their small groups during our sharing sessions. It’s interesting to note how different their problems have become from the beginning, demonstrating the Lord’s transformational power.
I am inspired by seeing their development. Their dedication and enthusiasm for serving the Lord has grown tremendously. Their emphasis on deepening and expanding their relationship with God is seen in their weekly attendance at sessions. This transformational journey is about more than simply conquering obstacles; it’s about strengthening one’s devotion, developing one’s faith, and never stopping trying to serve the Lord with more zeal.
- Pray for wisdom and strength as we handle ministry.
- Pray for spiritual growth.
- Pray for provision and protection.
- Pray for salvation for their families.
We have started a Single Mom & Widow for the King Ministry.
We hear about their experiences in person and virtual meetings; this has been an inspirational experience for me. Christy is a single mother of three who has been raising her kids by herself for fifteen years. Since her family is devout Roman Catholics and she believes in the Lord, she seldom gets assistance from them. Her desire to share her faith and provide prayers for her family is inspiring and a blessing to me. She anticipates a spiritual awakening from God in their lives.
A supportive community is desperately needed for these ladies to find someone to confide in and listen to. The number of people joining our small groups has increased weekly. Serving widows and single moms requires a thoughtful, compassionate, and all-encompassing strategy that attends to their practical, spiritual, and emotional needs. We thank God for this opportunity.
Little Child for the Big God
Every individual is essential in God’s kingdom. God views all children as unique, priceless, and deserving of a particular place in his heart. These young ones will have the power to mold and direct the future; they are more than just citizens of the kingdom; they are its future leaders. As such, valuing each child entails investing in their future and loving them as they are now. It is a privilege for us as a church to help shape these little ones. Every volunteer is happy to assist them. We regard them highly because we consider them future stewards, visionaries, and leaders of God’s kingdom. As they lead the community toward a more profound comprehension of love, justice, and faith, their voices, thoughts, and deeds will influence the future. They are valued for the limitless potential they symbolize and who they are now. Everybody matters in God’s kingdom, even the little ones. Despite their small size, they are a creation of our big God.
- Pray for these children that God will mold them through His Word.
- Pray for their family so they will allow them to attend our weekly meeting.
- Pray for all volunteers for their willingness and passion to serve.
- Pray for financial provision so we can provide weekly snacks.

Fruitfulness is the outcome of God’s faithfulness
Cambaro 2, Mandaue City, is a place where we have Bible study every Saturday. What began as a small weekly Bible study blossomed into a vibrant community, a testament to God’s divine work. Each week, men and women gathered to study the scriptures, seeking comfort, wisdom, and connection. As the words of the Bible resonated in their hearts, their lives began to change in remarkable ways. Praise God! The direct effect of this transformation was most evident in their children as they joyfully allowed their children to come and be taught by God’s word. Their laughter and enthusiasm became a beautiful sign at every meeting, a living testament to the community’s growing vibrancy. It is indeed God’s faithfulness in their lives. Every week, the number of attendees grew, reaching 140 to 150 individuals, both parents and children. It was more than just a gathering; it was a sanctuary of hope and renewal. The community saw firsthand how the hand of God was at work, reshaping lives, mending broken spirits, and building an unshakeable foundation of faith. This small community in Cambaro illustrated how faith could move mountains, not just metaphorically but in the real sense of transforming lives and building a resilient, joyful, and united community. Each person’s journey was a beacon of hope, reflecting God’s divine promise. And now, we are all excited to launch and start Sunday worship soon. Glory to God! We are now in agreement with the owner of this place for rent so that we can use it for our weekly gatherings. Amen!
Rooted in LOVE
Colossians 2.7: “Rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
One of the blessings we enjoy as a community is the presence of one another. Our commitment as a church isn’t just about personal growth; it’s about fostering a community that reaches beyond our walls. We are united as a church in our purpose: to spread the message of hope in Christ Jesus to the sixteen villages surrounding our church. This year, we plan to create a ministry-like home visitation in every village and offer prayers for the families. By doing this, we can build connections and share the gospel. We believe every individual deserves to hear the message of hope, and we are devoted to making that a reality. Our collective efforts aim to touch hearts and change lives, one person at a time. For me, this is how we model the discipleship process. We journey together to reach out to the community by involving them. We are also preparing ourselves to be better messengers of Christ’s love for this generation and the generation to come. Each conversation, prayer, and act of kindness is a step toward our goal. Our journey is one of faith, love, and a relentless pursuit of God’s calling. Together, we will see our vision come to life as the message of hope in Christ Jesus reaches every family and individual in those sixteen villages. This is our mission, our purpose, and who we are.
Refreshed and re-ignited
We praise God for the opportunity to motivate and appreciate our church volunteers as we spent our time together at Lapu-Lapu Beach Resort. There was a meaningful conversation about their faith journeys and their duty and responsibility in ministry. I have heard from many that they are tired, confused, and not always motivated. Another pressure they receive is from their family as they are questioned about their faith and commitment to the church and ministry. I feel their burden and commitment to serving the Lord our God and encourage them through the book of James. We spent time praying to one another. We praise God for the meaningful conversation and the genuine feelings regarding our personal life and ministry.
New Beginning
This month is busy for all our teachers and volunteers for children’s ministries. Every year, we have enrollments for all children ages 3 to 7 to be part of our Saturday classes, storytelling, and other activities. We have 75 Children enrolled and ready to start their classes and feeding program every Saturday. What an exciting journey together this year, 2024, as there are many new faces.
Pray that God will open us opportunities as we engage the community and that there will be more families we can pray and connect with. Pray for all volunteers and teachers’ spiritual growth, strength, and wisdom. Pray for God’s provision, protection, strength, and wisdom as we engage the ministry. Pray for the salvation of the families of attendees. Pray for safety and God’s provision for our weekly feeding.
Children’s Outreach Despite the High Heat
The extreme heat posed a tough challenge for the kids and volunteers this month. But Julie and Caina, our dedicated teachers in the children’s ministry, never wavered. Despite the weather, they tirelessly reached out, taught, and inspired the children every single week. Their unwavering commitment demonstrates their passion for teaching and their love and care for the children they serve. It’s heartwarming to hear that the children remain enthusiastic and eager to engage with their teachers and the activities provided despite the extreme heat. Their efforts are undoubtedly making a significant difference in the lives of these children, instilling in them a love for learning and a deeper connection to the one who created them. They are shining examples of selflessness and devotion; their impact will undoubtedly be felt for years.
Pray for the courage and positivity of each volunteer. Pray for good health and safety for the children. Pray for God’s provision to our children’s ministry. Pray for the parents as well that they will continue to send their children for them.
Raising a new generation of caring, forward-thinking leaders
Cultivating a better future depends on enabling children and young adults to take on leadership roles. In addition to fostering their spiritual development, discipleship and fellowship activities help them develop their social and emotional awareness, equipping them to lead successfully in various roles. By supporting their growth, we give more opportunities and raise a new generation of caring, forward-thinking leaders who can benefit their communities. We praise God because they value discipleship and fellowship.
Safe Spaces in God’s comfort
In a group Bible study context, the power of community is amazing. This was demonstrated this month when our Bible study participants, who are husbands, were impacted by the sun’s intense heat and the limitations of their ability to work. The money they received as compensation became smaller, and tension and disagreements arose between husbands and wives. The venue for them to share their burden and refresh one another’s hearts and minds with genuine encouragement was from the group and God’s word. The group creates a safe space where challenges can be discussed without fear of judgment by practicing active listening and sincere concern for one another. Yes, having a supportive network to walk beside you makes managing life’s obstacles easier. Additionally, every step is infused with hope and purpose when the Word of the Lord guides faith. We do need community as we travel through life’s challenges.
Pray for peace and understanding for each family. Pray for God’s provision and good health. Pray for spiritual growth. Pray for harmony and a calm spirit, relying on God’s perfect time.
Continuous Growth in Leadership Development
Leadership development is not a static destination; instead, it is an ongoing, lifelong journey. It entails a perpetual quest for improvement, growth, and enhanced service to those around us. Following our church service, our dedicated leaders and ministry team choose not to disperse and depart each week but instead remain steadfast in our collective growth journey by actively participating in educational endeavors. Regardless of our experience or expertise, there is always room for fresh insights, skill refinement, and new perspectives. This steadfast commitment to learning and readiness to serve the King is commendable. I thank God for the blessing of such devoted leaders and the privilege of belonging to a community that prioritizes continuous growth and learning. Let us encourage one another to remain resolute on this journey, seizing every opportunity for advancement and relying on God’s guidance at every step. Remember, as long as we keep learning, we keep growing in countless ways.
Pray for wisdom, growth, and self-discipline in the learning process. Pray that God will use the leaders in different ministries. Pray for their family’s good health, protection, and provision.
Transformation Through Faith: Kent’s Journey to Finding Identity in Christ
I met and got to know Kent ten months ago. He is 29 years old and was initially confused about his identity. He knows he is a boy, but why act like a girl? That was the question in his mind and a big struggle over the years. One day, we had feeding and Bible study in his area, and Kent was invited to attend. Praise God he did. In the first meeting, he was calm and quiet. In the second one, he shared his understanding of what we studied. After several weeks, he became comfortable, and at that time, we challenged everyone to believe and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Kent was one of those who received Jesus and wanted God to change his life forever; though he knew it would not be easy, he believes everything is possible by the power of God. Kent surrendered to the Lord through water baptism. He knows not everyone is happy about it, but God matters to him now. He shared two weeks ago about his struggle and said that God is working. He was already separated from his partner or boyfriend. He is also learning to develop his masculinity through discipleship. He made me whole again, Kent said. Praise God! Pray that God will continue transforming him to minister to other LGBT communities. Pray for God’s strength and wisdom in dealing with those who persecute him. Pray for his family that God will save those he reaches out to. Pray for God’s provision and protection every day.
A Heartwarming Act of Compassion: Cooking Porridge and Sharing God’s Love with Children
It is heartwarming to know that you have people who have the heart to serve, care for, and help those in need. Cooking porridge for children and sharing God’s word demonstrates a deep compassion and love for these children. It is truly inspiring to see children coming together, making others laugh, having a positive impact, and attributing success whenever they gather in a place like this. Having one another is an exciting part of children’s lives, knowing that most of their parents work eight hours a day. So, our presence with them is a highly intriguing aspect of a child’s life. Another level of significance is added by the church volunteers’ involvement, which shows a group effort to support the community. Their dedication to meeting the children’s bodily and spiritual needs is demonstrated by their provision of meals, activities, stories, and the Bible. Praise God for this opportunity. Pray for the salvation of these children and families. Pray that the word of God planted in their hearts will grow and change their lives. Pray that parents continue to support and allow their children to attend Bible story time.
Empowered Women: Nurturing Faith and Community in Weekly Gatherings
Meeting with this group of women who want to make something different in the community is a pleasure. Our weekly get-togethers are characterized by joy and passion for studying spiritual development. I see their willingness to grow deeper and serve the community purposely. Our plan for this community is to have a house church where everyone, including kids, can join for worship every Sunday. I was amazed by their commitment and love for God and the community. Pray for wisdom as we prepare ourselves for this journey. Pray that God will protect and use these women with a mission’s heart. Pray for the salvation of their family and friends. Pray for strength and provision every day.
Hope Amidst Loss: Responding to Tragedy with Compassion and Faith
This month, another immense fire tragedy occurred in Fatima, Brgy. Looc, Mandaue City. This place is thirty meters from our church (Bridge Community Fellowship). There are 500 plus affected families/households by fire. We have five church members, eight immediate families, and six new contacts for our Bible study who were affected. They are now in the gymnasium and school for a temporary stay. During this time, our church members collaborate and assist them in addressing their immediate needs (like food, clothes, and temporary shelter). We have also been debriefing every Saturday together with my team to help them process. This experience is very touching, especially for my team. Most of them are first-time handling, and they were carried by emotion. We praise God for this opportunity to develop a team to respond to situations like these. We distributed to 80 families 5kl of rice, groceries, and cooking pots. We plan to add at least 50 families (food and cooking pots) in the coming weeks. Food will be 500 per family (5k rice & groceries), and the cooking pot will be 300 pesos. The total amount we want to raise is 40,000.00 (US$730). Please include us in your prayers. Just this week, a friend donated a hundred Bibles to be distributed next week so we can use them for our discipleship and counseling.
No Turning Back
Jemboy, age 49, is a married man with two children. His past was marked by struggles with drug addiction, leading him onto a path that landed him in prison. Now, to provide for his family, he works diligently by driving a motorcycle every day. We invited Jemboy to one of our Bible study sessions in November last year. He experienced a transformative journey, embracing faith and accepting the Lord Jesus into his heart. In December 2023, Jemboy took a significant step in his spiritual journey by getting baptized, symbolizing his surrender to a new life in Jesus. Despite his newfound faith, Jemboy faces ongoing challenges. His friends continue to extend invitations and tempt him to indulge in drinking and drugs; however, the faithfulness of God is evident in Jemboy’s life as God strengthens him to resist the allure of drunkenness, substance abuse, and bullying. Jemboy and his entire family actively participate in church activities, demonstrating the positive impact of his spiritual transformation on the household. The journey of overcoming past struggles may still present obstacles, but Jemboy remains steadfast in his commitment to a life guided by faith in Jesus.
Prayer requests:
Pray for strength and wisdom as Jemboy continues to learn from God’s word.Pray for spiritual growth and salvation for his family. Pray for daily protection as he rides a motorcycle every day.
Children Ministry- Beaming smiles and vessels of inspiration.
The children’s gathering each week makes us so excited. The children’s anticipation is palpable as they prepare to sing praise songs to the Lord. Glory to God! The source of their enthusiasm lies in the stories they hear from God’s word through teacher Julie. Currently, we observe new faces coming and listening to the story. A collective thrill fills the air as the teachers recount tales of faith and grace. The children, with innocence in their eyes, listen to the timeless stories that have inspired generations, and their voices echo with melodies of hope, love, and redemption. It is so much fun and a promising future, seeing them enjoy each other’s company. The prospect of witnessing God’s transformative work in lives and families through these little messengers adds an extra layer of anticipation. Each smile, each note, and each word echo a promise of a brighter future, one touched by divine grace and the energy of a community bound by faith and hope. With beaming smiles, the children become vessels of inspiration, carrying the message of God’s love. God indeed promises profound impact as these children became instruments in the hands of the Lord, weaving a tapestry of transformation. In the embrace of the children’s smiles and the resonance of their songs, we look forward to the unfolding chapters of God’s work, eager to see lives and families touched and changed.
Prayer requests:
Pray for the children that God will protect them. Pray that each week, they will be able to attend. Pray that through them, God will bring salvation to their families. Pray for good health and joy as they listen to God’s word.
Going deeper into faith
In January, enthusiastic men and women embarked on a journey fueled by a profound hunger for God’s word. Their excitement and passion are palpable, igniting a fervor that draws them together each week to pursue spiritual growth. This collective eagerness to delve into the teachings of the Word became a source of inspiration for the entire group. Their commitment to attending regular gatherings showcases a genuine thirst for knowledge, a yearning to unravel the depths of scripture and integrate its wisdom, and prayer for a deeper understanding of God’s word. These prayers were not mere rituals but sincere petitions, a plea to grasp profound truths. Their hearts are open and receptive to the transformative power of the Scriptures. The hunger for God’s Word transcends the confines of a weekly meeting; it permeates their daily lives. Their conversations are flavored with discussions about faith, and their actions reflect a genuine desire to live out the teachings they absorb. A common purpose unites them, and the group has begun exploring ways to put their newfound understanding into practice with the desire to serve in the church and the broader community. Their passion has become a catalyst for meaningful action, a commitment to be vessels of compassion and agents of positive change in their home and the community. Because of that, I am so excited about what God will do in the community through them. The transformation is not just individual but collective, as the group finds strength and encouragement in one another. The hunger for God’s Word has forged a bond that transcends mere study sessions, creating a supportive community of believers eager to encourage each other in their shared mission. This group of men and women witnessed a deepening of spiritual understanding and a tangible impact on those touched by their service. The hungry hearts have become hands and feet in action, embodying the teachings they had so ardently studied. Praise God for their lives.
Prayer requests:
Pray for God’s work in their lives and family to become a gospel to the community. Pray for salvation in their respected family. Pray for strength and courage to invite other women into the community. Pray for daily protection and provision for their children going to school.
Vision for a year filled with growth, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment
The first week of the year had a special significance, for it was during this time that the team gathered to discuss their vision for the months ahead. They understood the power of intention and the importance of aligning their goals with a greater purpose. As they set their goals, the team recognized that their efforts were not merely for personal gain but were dedicated to a higher cause. Their planned activities are infused with a spirit of service, aiming to bring about positive change and spread God’s glory in every endeavor. They envision a year filled with growth, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to making a meaningful impact in the church and community.
Find Hope and Family
Daphne, a soul traversing the intricacies of existence, carries the weight of a fragmented past at the tender age of 29. In the early chapters of her life, she sought refuge in the comforting embrace of her grandmother, forsaking the conventional path of education. The script of her narrative unfolded unexpectedly, as the script of adolescence intertwined with the complexities of maternity at the age of 17. Haunted by unresolved inquiries and adorned with garments of unfulfilled potential, Daphne bore the burdens of estrangement from her roots and the uncharted responsibilities of motherhood. A compelling void echoed in the spaces between her questions and the regrets etched on the canvas of her life. An unexpected chapter unfolded in November of 2023 when an invitation to partake in the illumination of divine wisdom through a Bible study graced her existence. An ember of hope ignited as she ventured into this sacred journey, seeking solace and enlightenment within God’s holy word. In the sanctity of that moment, amidst the verses that echoed through the corridors of time, Daphne found a place in the embrace of the Lord Jesus Christ. In December, she chose to immerse herself in the transformative waters of baptism, symbolizing a rebirth and a consecration of her newfound faith. Today, the echoes of Daphne’s life resonate differently. A metamorphosis has occurred, and now, with unwavering faith, Daphne and her family dutifully assemble for Sunday services. The fragmented past has been healed, and the yearning for family connection finds fulfillment in the divine bonds forged through the love of Jesus Christ. Daphne’s journey is not merely a tale of redemption; it is a profound testament to the transformative power of faith, the resurrection of hope, and the emergence of a new familial sanctuary anchored in the teachings of the divine.
Prayer requests:
Pray for emotional healing towards her parents. Pray she will have the courage to talk to her parents and ask for forgiveness. Pray for growth and spiritual discipline. Pray for her strength and courage to face persecution from her family.
Pray for unity and courage for the new team. Pray for wisdom and strength to all volunteers. Pray God’s provision for all ministry expenses. Pray they will grow maturely and never tire of doing and serving. A Symphony of Faith: Celebrating Transformative Baptisms and New Beginnings
With immense joy, we celebrate the significant decisions of eight remarkable individuals as they embark on a new chapter in their faith journey through the symbolic act of water baptism. Each one carries a unique story that leaves us in awe, showcasing God’s undeniable presence and power at work in their lives. As they obediently step into the cleansing waters, we witness a powerful symbol of the past being washed away, making room for a future adorned with abundant blessings, boundless love, and an unwavering path of spiritual growth. Their public declaration of faith becomes a moment of praise and glory to God, acknowledging His hand shaping their lives. In this transformative experience, we extend our heartfelt wishes and prayers, envisioning the ripples of divine grace resonating in their lives. May their journey be a harmonious melody, filled with the profound fulfillment of serving the King. Today, we celebrate, grateful for the beauty of these stories and the remarkable journey ahead for each one. Praise God for their lives.
Praise the Lord for this opportunity for our young people to take part in selling goods so they can have money for youth gatherings and other weekly ministry efforts to reach young people in various villages. They want to keep connecting with and evangelizing their friends by going to their homes. The message they want to spread in the community is “Hope out loud!” Even the products they sold were designed for these endeavors.
Prayer Requests:
Pray for spiritual growth and courage to share their faith in Jesus boldly. Pray for God’s strength as they face persecution among members of the family. Pray for the salvation of their families. Pray for wisdom to understand God’s Word through equipping. Pray for the salvation of those we invite. Pray for more contacts as we intentionally build relationships with the community. Pray for wisdom for all volunteers and small group leaders Pray for the harvest in the year 2024.
Embracing Hope: A Christmas Celebration of Faith, Blessings, and Community
Indeed, Christmas carries profound historical and religious significance for millions across the globe, symbolizing the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, whom Christians regard as the Son of God and the Savior of humanity. The narrative of Jesus’ birth, central to the Christian faith, is vividly portrayed in the Gospels. Hope emerges as a main theme during the Christmas season, embodying the fulfillment of God’s promise to send a Messiah, bringing salvation and hope to the world through the birth of Jesus. The tradition of gift-giving is often viewed as a reflection of the Wise Men presenting gifts to the infant Jesus and the ultimate gift of the Son, Jesus, bestowed by the Father upon us. This Christmas, our Church aspired to bless our community by inviting them to one of our Sunday services, allowing them to hear the message of Hope at Christmas. Praise God for the response; twenty joined our Sunday gathering. Simultaneously, we present our baptism candidates to the congregation, sharing their stories of finding hope in Jesus. Christmas serves as a poignant reminder of the spiritual and moral values held dear by many, encouraging acts of kindness, generosity, and compassion. Whether celebrated as a religious observance or a cultural tradition, Christmas profoundly impacts individuals and communities, fostering a sense of hope, love, and connection beyond the holiday season.
Youth Harmony for a Cause
It is genuinely heartening to observe the youth of our community uniting for a meaningful and historic initiative as the year ends. Their endeavor to coordinate a project, caroling for a cause, reflects a profound sense of purpose and dedication to supporting various aspects of our ministry. Directing the proceeds towards vital areas such as feeding programs and the music ministry highlights their awareness of community needs. It demonstrates a comprehensive approach to uplifting our church. By acknowledging the significance of these ministries, the youth embody the spirit of service and devotion to a higher purpose. The concept of praising God through their musical talents is a beautiful way not only to spread joy but also to connect with the divine. Music uniquely uplifts spirits and fosters community, making it an excellent tool for promoting unity and shared purpose within the church. Moreover, their intention to actively engage in the children’s ministry is commendable. This choice reflects a commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth and well-being of the younger members of our congregation. By actively participating in the children’s ministry, the youth are addressing the church’s current needs and investing in its future. Combining musical expression and active involvement in various ministries illustrates a well-rounded approach to serving God and the community. These young individuals are not merely envisioning change; they are actively working towards it, and their commitment is inspiring and deeply impactful. As we approach the end of the year, let us celebrate and support these youths who are leaving a lasting impact through their visionary and purpose-driven endeavors. May their actions inspire others to join in the spirit of service and unity, creating a legacy of love, compassion, and devotion within our church and community.
Harmony for Hope: Nurturing Young Hearts in the Spirit of Christmas
It is heartening to witness the ongoing ministry dedicated to children in our area, especially during the festive Christmas season. With its unique ability to bring joy and create lasting memories, music provides a beautiful experience for these children. The hope that these children will positively influence their surroundings and evolve into ambassadors of love for future generations is profound and forward-thinking. Nurturing their spirits through music and fostering a sense of community and compassion contributes to shaping a future where love and care are fundamental values. As these children grow and carry the Christmas spirit and lessons from the ministry into adulthood, they hold the potential to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Becoming ambassadors of love for the next generation embodies a beautiful vision for a better and more compassionate world. Initiatives like these enable communities to sow the seeds of positive change, leaving a legacy of kindness and unity for generations to come. May the ministry for these children continue to thrive and may the impact of these experiences resonate through the lives of these children and the communities they touch.
The youth were able to spread the gospel to their classmates and friends in the neighborhood last month. We give thanks to God for these young people’s willingness to be trained, endure some hardship and be employed in furthering God’s Kingdom. They are so grateful to God for answering their prayers. Glory to God!
- Pray for the spiritual growth of the young people.
- Pray for safety as they continue to share the gospel.
- Pray for their studies, wisdom, and understanding.
- Pray for their families, good health, and provision.
“Growing together in unity” is the theme of Bridge Community Fellowship’s celebration for their second anniversary. We give thanks for God’s steadfast love for the people of Bridge Community Fellowship. The church members were enthusiastic and motivated as they made preparations. The congregants see this event as a turning point in their relationship with God as they continue to work cooperatively for His honor and glory.
The celebration was jam-packed with enjoyment, treasured memories, trials counting it as part of training, and so forth. One indication that these believers are developing spiritually is their assurance and boldness in telling others about their faith. The sixteen small villages in Looc are still on their list of priorities for the following year. God truly wants the church family to grow closer and more unified. Glory to God!
- Pray for wisdom as the leaders continue to serve in the church and community.
- Pray for good health and financial blessing.
- Pray for the harvest as they share God’s Word with the community.
- Pray for joy, peace, and harmony in their families as well as in the church.
Meetings every Friday are the support groups designed to make a memorable impact through leadership and teaching strategies. Our church leaders and ministry team leaders are learning how to develop their skills of listening, the art of communicating, and coaching in the process of spiritual growth. We had an important time of discussion with them, sharing varying degrees of difficulties and challenges in the field of ministry. Knowing that our God is working in unexpected ways gives each of us comfort and encouragement at the same time. This time, the focus of the class is more on how to see and understand our hearts as a group, while also being open to how we feel about our ministry experience.
We praise God because everyone felt safe and comfortable to open up. We are grateful for an authentic community where everyone is safe to unload their struggles. I have discovered that support groups are vital in any organization or church. We are thankful to God for this group for men and women who have big hearts for Him and His Kingdom.
- Pray for wisdom as the leaders prepare to lead the small groups.
- Pray for the leading of the Holy Spirit.
- Pray that the volunteers will enjoy their Christian walk and grow in their service to God.
- Pray for spiritual growth in the lives of these obedient people.
Alvin Jamisola
Pastor Jamisola’s Testimony
Pastor Alvin and his wife Melchora. His children are Eunice, Carlos, and Ashly.
After my conversion, I became active in church ministries. I had the desire in my heart to work in full-time ministry. So, after I graduated high school, I continued my studies at the Evangelical Theological College of the Philippines in Cebu. But sad to say, I was not able to graduate during that time. I was very immature, and my life was controlled by feelings and emotions that led me to get married at an early age. I went back to my hometown in Surigao and stayed there with my family. But I continued to have a burden in my heart for full-time ministry. So, my wife and I decided to go back to Cebu and continue my studies. I worked as a full-time worker in a secular job to support the needs of my family as I continued my studies in His word. I get so much joy in studying God’s word. During our church plant class at ETCP and even right after I finished the course, I said to myself and expressed to God, “Lord! Many people can do my current job as a salesperson, but only a few can commit to church planting work.” Also, God’s word says in Matthew 9:37, “Then He said to his disciples, the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” So it is my heart’s desire to be a church planter, and this is my commitment to our Sovereign God.
Recent Ministry:
Expanding God’s Kingdom: A Vision Renewed
We thank the Lord for the holidays, which allowed my core leaders to get much-needed rest from their work. This time also allowed us to have an overnight retreat, where we spent quality time with our families, reflected on the year, and conducted evaluations and planning for 2024 and 2025.
As my wife and I continue our church-planting work in Calero, Liloan, Cebu, our vision remains steadfast: to establish this church as a base for planting more churches in our community and beyond. Despite challenges such as limited personnel and finances, particularly in a community where most people are among the poorest of the poor, we trust in God’s wisdom and provision.
A year ago, God led us to partner with a church whose leaders share the same passion for church planting. Through this collaboration, we revisited our ten-year roadmap to 2034. As we evaluated 2024, we were grateful for God’s mercy and grace, which enabled us to meet our goals.
Before this year ends, God has already opened another area for us to work on in 2025. Not only has He added to the number of saved souls in our local church, but He has also granted us the privilege of expanding His territory. We remain in awe of His faithfulness and are excited to continue fulfilling His mission in the future.
A Time of Rest, Bonding, and Vision for the Future
Praise the Lord for His goodness and provision! While many people spent their holidays this November at the cemetery for All Saints Day, my family and I had the privilege of spending quality time together at a resort. We are so grateful to God for allowing us to book a resort, which was perfect for my family and core leaders. This time together allowed us to engage in family bonding and team building, giving us a much-needed personal retreat to rest from our daily routines.
The retreat also provided a special time for our spiritual family to unite and strengthen our relationships in Christ. It was wonderful to see our children bonding and deepening their connections as part of the body of Christ.
We are also deeply thankful for the chance to bring along the families of our new leaders. We include these leaders in our planning and evaluation sessions as they transition into core leadership roles, allowing them to observe the process and begin their intentional training, preparing them to be core leaders in the near future.
God is so faithful, and we are excited for the future, especially as we look forward to our new church planting area.
Building a Vision: New Church Plant in Punta Engaño
Before the year 2024 ends, we thank God for leading us to a new location for church planting in Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. We are grateful for His provision of a 93-square-meter lot for constructing a facility dedicated to His glory—a place for worship, prayer, studying His Word, and celebrating the vision He has given us.
As I shared last month, we held a groundbreaking ceremony and dedicated this new church planting area to Christ. This month, we thank God for the progress in constructing the church building. We pray that we will complete at least the roofing of this two-story church building so we can officially begin church work. The children in the area are incredibly excited, as there is currently no visible church within their community.
Our approach to serving this community begins with building the church, followed by a tutorial class for the kids. Many children in this area are not attending school, and we are praying for a sponsorship program to support their education. Additionally, since this coastal area has no available water source, families incur high costs for water, making daily life even more challenging.
Looking ahead, I envision this ministry becoming an autonomous church. The two-story building will serve as a place of worship on the ground floor and offices on the second floor. We also plan to rent out rooms to generate income, which will help fund the church’s operations and ministry.
We thank God for His wisdom, strength, and provision as I lead the construction efforts. With limited funds, I have personally taken on the task of layout design and fabricating the trusses to save on labor costs. I also thank God for His protection as I travel daily by motorcycle, covering a 21-kilometer distance from Calero, Liloan, Cebu to Punta Engaño.
Ashly’s Heart for Ministry and God’s Provision
I have brought my youngest daughter, Ashly, to the new church planting area several times. During her visits, she made new friends who eagerly awaited her arrival. We praise God for Ashly’s friendly and accommodating nature, which has become a great asset to the ministry, especially as we engage in this new church planting work.
We are also excited to open our children’s feeding ministry after the roof construction is completed. On her first visit to the area, Ashly quickly gathered a group of children to interact with. While I focused on construction, she actively conversed with the kids, building connections and sharing God’s love.
We thank God for Ashly’s life and for sustaining her as she continues to battle epilepsy. We praise Him for His provision, as He faithfully provides for her medical needs. Her medication requires a monthly cost of 4,000 pesos, and by God’s grace, we’ve managed to cover it for nearly a year now.
Please continue to pray for Ashly’s good health, protection, and complete healing, as well as for financial provision for her ongoing medication. We are deeply grateful for God’s faithfulness in her life.
Growing Faith of Mary Khim and Our Kids’ Ministry
It has been almost two years, and we are so grateful for the Lord’s faithfulness and outstanding provision. We have witnessed the growth of the children we minister to every Saturday. They eagerly look forward to each week’s class, excited to learn new Bible stories. Over the past two months, they have been learning about the life of Jesus, and we are immensely grateful for how God is working in their hearts.
Recently, during a children’s evangelism session led by our volunteer teacher, Cristy, some kids received Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. One of these children is Mary Khim, now in 7th grade. Since the start of our feeding ministry, she has been a regular attendee, always attentive to the stories and actively participating in the class. She even helps Cristy and my daughter Ashly by assisting the younger children to participate and distributing food during lunch or snack time.
Just this month, Mary Khim and some other kids asked if they could have their own Bible to bring home and read. While we currently don’t have enough Bibles to provide each child with one, we are praying for the opportunity to give them copies of children’s Bibles in the future.
Please join us in praying for Mary Khim to continue to grow in wisdom and knowledge of God’s Word and for all the children in our ministry so that they may deepen their faith and understanding of Jesus Christ.
- Pray for our kids that God’s word will grow in their lives and they will grow in wisdom in the Lord.
- Pray for our children’s Christmas party for provision, good weather, and wisdom for us leaders as we plan to meet the kids and their parents during this event.
- Pray for the ministering power of the Holy Spirit to work in their lives.
- Pray for financial provision for our ongoing church building in Punta Engaňo.
- Pray for the protection and good health of the people working on the building.
- Pray for wisdom and good health for my family and me.
Roliemar’s Journey from Brokenness to Blessing
Roliemar, once a broken-hearted man from the province, found himself living on the streets of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Struggling without a stable income or permanent job, he faced tremendous hardship. His live-in partner left him, abandoning their two children, which deepened his heartache. Yet, God hears the cries of the broken-hearted.
During one of our outreach programs offering food and sharing the Gospel, Roliemar attended and became eager to learn about God and His Word. After a series of Bible studies, he made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, following Christ in water baptism. He is now a dedicated participant in our Tuesday evening Bible study group, and this month, he is learning to lead Bible study sessions as part of his leadership training.
I’ve even invited him to share short meditations during our prayer meetings, and it fills me with joy to witness his growth and transformation. Truly, only God can heal our brokenness, change the direction of our lives, and restore us to live for His glory.
- Pray for Roliemar spiritual maturity, guidance, and protection.
Aeron’s Story: From Prison to Purpose
With God, nothing is impossible. Aeron was once a traffic enforcer who enjoyed a comfortable life, but in an instant, everything fell apart. Wearing a white T-shirt and standing beside Roliemar, Aeron shares his story of once living in abundance but eventually becoming an ex-convict after getting involved with illegal drugs. His once-comfortable life turned dark as he faced the harsh reality of prison.
Yet, even in the depths of jail, God reached out to him. Through the ministry of servants from Gateway EFCP—the church where I now serve as interim pastor—Aeron encountered Jesus Christ and was reconciled to God. Upon his release, he eagerly embraced a new life dedicated to God’s service.
I now guide him in our life group Bible study every Tuesday evening. We are deeply grateful for his passion for studying God’s Word, and it’s a blessing to witness his transformation as he grows in faith. Aeron’s journey reminds us all that God’s power to redeem is limitless.
- Please help us pray for his spiritual growth and his eagerness to share with his family the salvation and hope he has experienced and enjoyed with the Lord.
Carlito’s Journey of Heartbreak to Healing
Carlito, a husband and father of four, spent many years working in Malaysia to support his family back in the Philippines. However, his life took a painful turn when he discovered that his wife had betrayed him with a close friend, leading to the end of their marriage. Yet, even in these dark and difficult times, God’s grace turned his trials into triumph.
While in Malaysia, Carlito attended an event featuring Dolphy Jr., not realizing it was an evangelistic night. Drawn by the chance to see Dolphy in person, he went—and it was there that he had a life-changing encounter, surrendering his life to God. Now back in Cebu, Carlito is an active member of our church and participates in my Tuesday evening life group Bible study. He is fully committed to the ministry, and I praise God for the opportunity to guide him in his spiritual journey toward maturity.
- Please help me pray for heavenly wisdom and knowledge as I am planning to deal with his marital struggle, praying to be released from this bondage and struggle.
Groundbreaking and Dedication of a New Place of Worship
This month, my church-planting team, along with Pastor Lito and his team, had the privilege of holding a groundbreaking ceremony to dedicate this new area to Christ, the Head of the Church. We are deeply grateful to be part of the global church, expanding our facilities and vision to bear witness to our faith within this community. Our goal is to provide a spiritual home for everyone who enters, honoring our loving, caring Father.
We praise the Lord for the opportunity to share people, resources, and prayers in building up this body of believers. We dedicate ourselves to developing meaningful programs and spiritual growth opportunities for worshipers. This ground is already Yours, O God, and we know that only by Your favor are we able to use it and bring forth the structure we envision. Thank You for the hopes and goals we hold as we prepare to build this place of worship for Your glory.
- Please help us pray for God’s provision as we build a church in this area.
- Pray for God’s ministering power as we gather the kids weekly for the feeding program so that we can connect with the parents for Bible Study.
Children and Families
One of the ways to motivate the children to join the Sunday school class is to give them points, especially for the age group level we handle. We reward them for their jobs well done when the children bring a Bible to class, memorize Bible verses, participate in class, and practice hygiene. My wife and I created the point system to let the kids get more excited and look forward to joining the class. Children receive a ticket for the points earned, and they can use the tickets to buy school supplies, toys, and food at the Center Fair at the upcoming center fair in December. We aim to make this fair an evangelistic event, especially for the parents. We are praying that through this event, many will experience the love of Christ and begin their journey of faith. We ask the Lord to use these children as vessels of His love to reach their parents and families.
Uplift the weary and burdened.
We bring dinner to a family’s home every Friday to share in fellowship and prayer and rely on referrals from friends, relatives, or contacts to visit a different family each week. This initiative helps us foster strong relationships within our community and reach out to those who do not yet have a personal relationship with God.
This month, we visited Alma’s home, where she welcomed us into her garage as her grandchildren battled coughs and fevers. Alma, a recent widow, was referred to us by a neighbor who attends our church. We were able to share God’s Word and practically demonstrate His love.
Support and Prayers for Pastor Caspe
The District Four Pastors of EFCP offer our heartfelt support and encouragement to our fellow minister, Pastor Caspe. In his grief, Pastor Caspe has shared that he needs to step away from his pastoral duties temporarily. He is uncertain when he will return to his role, as only God knows the timeline for his healing. Even during simple conversations, Pastor Caspe finds it difficult to contain his emotions, as memories of his late beloved wife bring him to tears. Pastors need to gather for prayer and support. Pray for our team that we will strengthen one another in the work of the ministry.
Church planting assessment, training, and coaching session
We are grateful to the Lord for the opportunity and privilege to participate in a three-day church planting assessment, training, and coaching session. It was an enriching experience for my wife and me, expanding our vision and understanding of church planting. Through this program, we gained insights into the necessary personal preparation, evaluated our marital and family relationships, and developed critical competencies for church planting, such as casting a clear and compelling vision of the future church.
We recognized the importance of essential skills like gathering and starting a congregation, effective communication, evangelism, discipleship, equipping others, and building a solid team. We learned the value of multiplying leaders and groups and the emotional resilience required to thrive in a fast-changing environment. Flexibility, adaptability, and perseverance are crucial, but staying motivated by the Spirit’s call helps us overcome the toughest challenges.
This church planting assessment and coaching strongly encourages participants to involve their spouses, emphasizing the importance of strong marital support in church planting work. Despite our conflicting schedules, my wife’s job and my classes— we are grateful to the Lord for allowing us to attend this training at no cost. Traveling from Calero, Liloan, to Banawa, Cebu, took nearly an hour by motorcycle, and we thanked God for His protection and provision during the travel and praised God for expanding our understanding of the ministry through the three-day event. Hearing the experiences and challenges shared by fellow church planters from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao renewed and broadened our perspective on church planting work.
Pray for the thirty participants in the church planting assessment and coaching. Some are already engaged in church planting, and some want to start church planting work.
Pastor’s Fellowship
What a great time together with the courageous men of God! This month, we hosted our pastor’s fellowship for the north portion of Cebu EFCP pastors to encourage and pray for one another. It was a time of reigniting the passion for evangelism and outreach. We prayed for the desire to have Bayanihan helping each other in every church.
As part of our desire to help each other, we will do a rotation visit for pastors and workers, empowering and encouraging them with open-air evangelism through a feeding program every time we visit a church in our cluster. We plan to organize our men, women, and youth groups again to have regular gatherings for prayer and fellowship as one of the backbones of the ministry. Three of these churches are planted through White Fields.
Praise God for all his guidance and provision in technical and financial assistance through these different groups of people for the expansion of his kingdom and for helping and encouraging one another in the ministry.
Youth Fellowship:
As our young people resume classes and get busy with schoolwork and school activities, our youth leaders from Cluster 4 churches held a youth fellowship this month with the theme, Behind the Scenes.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11
Forty-one young people from Cluster 4 churches could come, and our church was able to send thirteen young people. We praise the Lord for the bond and the closeness of their relationships built during camp. Kate is a shy and introverted girl who, when we first met her, preferred to be alone, but since attending the WCA youth camp, she is now slowly getting out of her comfort zone and is eager to join fellowships.
Jirah, the one I mentioned in my previous ministry update, is from Mindanao and transferred here to Visayas to take care of her auntie, who has cancer. She shared with my wife that her transfer here to Cebu and meeting us is a blessing from the Lord because when she was in Mindanao, she was not active in the church and slowly began to distance herself from the church. Still, the Lord has renewed her, and she is being restored through the camp and the fellowships and is now cultivating her relationship with Jesus and her fellow young people.
- Pray for the spiritual growth of these young people.
- Pray for wisdom and provision as their classes start this month.
- Pray for our upcoming youth fellowship.
Praise the Lord for sustaining our children’s ministry
The kids look forward to the weekly ministry and are excited to learn new Bible stories, games, and activities. This month, my wife made the curriculum of lessons for the whole year to materialize the objectives that will target the four aspects: spiritual, socio-emotional, cognitive, and physical. We praise the Lord for sustaining our youth volunteer teacher, Cristy, and her passion and love for the kids. She is intentional in her approach; she encourages the children to open their Bibles and read them independently in every Bible story. This year will be her third year in the Bible school. My youngest daughter Ashly, the one who was diagnosed with epilepsy just this year, is also helping in teaching the kids. Despite Ashly’s health condition, we praise the Lord because she is passionate and loves teaching children. This month is the start of her formal school classes, and we praised God that despite her health condition, she is still excited and eager to study.
Leonora Caspe’s Memorial
In my previous ministry update, I mentioned that teacher Leonora, our former librarian at our Bible school, was battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. This month, she was scheduled for her sixth chemo session, but at the beginning of the month, she was rushed to the hospital due to difficulty breathing and was diagnosed with pneumonia due to her weakened immune system. She spent three days in the hospital, but sadly, she passed away. I took the lead in offering words of comfort and encouragement to Nora’s bereaved family during the first night of her funeral service as we paid tribute to her.
Pray for comfort and strength for her husband, Pastor Agapito Caspe, age 79.
Weekly Feeding Update: Children’s Ministry and Blessings
We previously requested prayers for our planned reading tutorial. We adjusted our plan and decided to hold the tutorials every Saturday this last month. We also prayed for tables and kiddie chairs for our feeding program, allowing the kids to have proper spaces for activities and meals. Praise the Lord for the answered prayer! Our mother church has given us seven tables and chairs; the children are delighted to have them. This month, in celebration of Father’s Day, the children learned about the love of the father and the importance of obeying parents. They also made Father’s Day cards to give to their fathers. We are also grateful for the new kids from the neighborhood who have joined us. Please continue to pray for provision as the school year begins. Pray that these children can attend school and that their parents will be able to support their education.
Mother’s Day card making.
As one way of celebrating Mother’s Day and appreciating their hard work and love for the family, the children made a card during our feeding program. We saw their excitement in preparing the card with a letter of appreciation to give to their mothers. In June and July, Cristy, our volunteer teacher, and my wife will focus on the topic of family, teaching the kids to love their family and their responsibility in the family to obey their parents. We are amazed at how the Lord works in these little children’s lives. Every Sunday, they look forward to learning in Sunday school, and we pray that the Lord may use them in their families so that through these precious little children, more families will come to know the Lord.
Reading Tutorial Ministry
As the school year ends this month and some students struggle with reading and comprehension, we plan to provide a one-week reading tutorial with volunteer teachers or youth with the heart to teach the kids.
Road Map to Partnership
As previously mentioned, I plan to utilize two churches, Lapu-Lapu and Light of Life Community Center, as a supporting vehicle for the growth of the Calero ministry. We aim to establish a partnership that will enable us to strengthen each other through mutual support and practice unity in Christ. This month, the core leaders are in ministry meetings and fellowships. We will conduct evangelism and mission training with our different teams and volunteers. In the practicum, or applying this learning, we will be doing a rotation visit in our various areas to enhance each other’s leaders and volunteers, as well as for our teams to see and be open to the different problems and obstacles to be faced with the various groups of people or mission field. Our training ground will be here in Calero, where we have a friendly field due to the target person, the parents of the kids we minister weekly.
Creating a Team for Church Planting
What a great joy to work with people with a heart for reaching out to the lost. Pastor Agapito and Nora are two of my core leaders in Lapu-Lapu who have a vision for church planting. Pastor Agapito was our former dean of student affairs, and his wife Nora was the former librarian in our Bible school. They were once our professors and are now my ministry partners. We are now in the ministry of creating a team for missions. They are now my adviser and coach since they are already seniors and retired from work. Nora is having chemotherapy on June 20, 2024, which is her 5th chemo. Our vision with Pastor Agapito is to strengthen the Calero and Lapu-Lapu to be a sending church for church planting since I am the one taking the office of pastor in these two churches.
Praying to Push through in Bible School
It’s been a while since our youth discipleship was unable to meet due to a conflict of schedules. Some are busy with their studies because of the demand for paperwork as graduating students, and some are now working for a company to help their family’s needs financially. We praise the Lord that my wife will meet for discipleship with Cony and Genevieve. We are grateful that the Lord has sustained them even in their workplace. Cony shared that the Lord sustained her despite her unfavorable situation as a service crew. We are also grateful that her desire to enroll at the Bible school and take Christian education studies is still in her heart because she wants to know more about the Lord and be used in the ministry. Cony is now resigning from a service crew in a food company and praying to continue her study in college in Bible school, taking Christian education. Please bear with us in prayer for this desire in Cony’s heart.
Please pray for our kids’ good health and healing, as some of them are now having coughs, colds, and fevers due to the scorching weather we are currently having here in the Philippines. Pray for wisdom, patience, and strength for our volunteer teachers, Cristy and my wife, as they teach the kids and prepare the reading lessons and materials for the reading tutorial program. Pray for financial provision as we plan to buy tables for the kids to use for their activities and during mealtimes. Pray for dedicated youth volunteers who will volunteer to help teach the kids.
Nurturing Children’s Spiritual Growth
Through our children’s feeding ministry, we are preparing future leaders in the church. We are blessed and thankful to God for the lives of these children, whom God entrusted to us to be trained and nurtured to make a significant impact in our community in the future. We are grateful for the lives of these children, who are very eager to read and study God’s word. In our Sunday school, as we teach them Bible stories, we let them find the story and book of the Bible themselves so that they can learn to open the Bible and be trained and equipped to search and study the Bible. Thus, as they grow physically, they also know and understand God and his word.
We rejoice in our children’s development and marvel at their enthusiasm for exploring and understanding God’s word. During Bible story sessions, they eagerly vie to locate the scriptures being taught. We’ve observed their growth in stature, spiritually, and socially. Despite varying reading abilities, their eagerness to engage with the Bible is genuinely inspiring, as it holds transformative power.
We praise God for His continuous provision and support, particularly for financially sustaining our weekly children’s feeding program. Over the past year and two months, we’ve witnessed remarkable spiritual growth among the children we minister to, a testament to the Lord’s unwavering care. Initially, parents hesitated to allow their children to join Sunday school, but now they eagerly encourage them to attend children’s worship each week. Despite sweltering temperatures reaching 40 to 42 degrees due to El Niño, we’re grateful for the Lord’s healing touch, alleviating coughs and colds among our children. Special appreciation goes to our volunteer teacher, Cristy, whose dedication to teaching God’s word shines through despite her demanding school schedule. Her selflessness in nurturing the children’s faith is truly commendable.
Celebrating Growth: Stories of Transformation in Youth Ministry
We rejoice in the remarkable growth witnessed among our young teens, exemplified by Mary, a vibrant participant in our junior youth activities. Mary exemplifies dedication as she actively engages in our feeding ministry alongside her two younger brothers. Remarkably attentive during Bible storytelling sessions, she eagerly responds to questions and exhibits leadership potential among her peers. Demonstrating initiative, Mary willingly assumes leadership roles, mentors younger children, and assists our volunteer, Cristy, in organizing activities. In a poignant moment, Cristy shared the profound message of Jesus’s love and sacrifice, prompting Mary to embrace Jesus as her personal Savior, marking a pivotal moment in her spiritual journey.
Building Bridges: Uniting Churches for Ministry Growth
We are profoundly grateful for the divine gift of fellowship, a bond forged through our shared faith in Christ. As the interim pastor of Lapu-Lapu Church and a member of the Light of Life Community Center, I am compelled to leverage this unity to catalyze the growth of our ministry in Calero. This month, we initiated a pivotal step by convening leaders and volunteers from both churches for a fellowship dinner, laying the groundwork for a collaborative partnership aimed at mutual support and solidarity in Christ. Our vision encompasses a series of evangelism and mission training sessions, empowering diverse teams and volunteers for effective ministry. Through hands-on experience and rotation visits to various locales, we seek to fortify our leaders and volunteers, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities inherent in our mission fields.
Faith Amidst Adversity: Ashly Mae’s Journey with Epilepsy
We are immensely grateful for the life of our youngest daughter, Ashly Mae, whose unwavering dedication to ministry shines brightly despite her health challenges. Recently, she received the results of her EEG, revealing a diagnosis of epilepsy stemming from abnormal brain activity in her frontal lobe. We offer heartfelt thanks to God as she has been spared from seizures this month and is now under daily maintenance medication. We humbly ask for prayers for her continued well-being, particularly regarding potential kidney complications from her medication regimen of 1,650 mg per day, which is crucial for seizure prevention.
Pray for the vision of partnership in the ministry with these churches, where I have access to their teams. Pray for the unity of our hearts, minds, and finances in this ministry. Continue praying for our kids’ good health and healing, as some of them are now having coughs, colds, and fevers due to the scorching weather we are currently having here in the Philippines. Continue praying for financial provision to buy tables for the kids to use during activities and mealtimes.
A Joyous Celebration: Water Baptism and Faith Declaration
Therefore, we have been buried with him through baptism into death so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we may also live a new way of life. Romans 6:4
As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we also celebrate the public declaration of faith of our beloved brethren who obey the Lord through water baptism. Two of them are my children, Carlos and Eunice. What a great joy for me as a minister to officiate the water baptism of my two children! Before the ceremony, I taught and explained to them baptism’s significance, meaning, and purpose. I was overjoyed by their decision to declare their faith in Jesus publicly. As a father, it is my joy to see them grow in the Lord. Pray they continue to grow in wisdom, knowledge, faith, obedience, and experience with Him.
Blessed by Life: A Journey of Faith and Healing for Ashly Mae
We are so grateful to the Lord for the gift of life to our youngest daughter, Ashly Mae. Despite the health challenges she faces right now, we are so blessed to celebrate her life. As of now, she is in the process of taking medication. The doctor gave her anti-epileptic medicines to control her seizure episodes and vitamins for her brain nerves. We took her to a private hospital for the doctor to perform a CT scan to check the condition of her brain. Praise the Lord, there is no evidence of brain damage, but we are still waiting for her EEG (electroencephalogram) result. She still has mild seizure episodes that last for a minute but, thankfully, are not as bad as last month. My wife and I are so grateful to the Lord for the sustaining grace, strength, and wisdom He has poured into our family through this journey. We are also thankful for everyone who prays for us.
Please continue to pray for the complete healing of my daughter, Ashly. Pray that her body will respond to the medicines she is taking. She is currently taking eight medicines per day, including her two vitamins. Pray for wisdom and strength for my wife and me as we care for her.
Grace Amidst Trials: Resuming Bible Study and Family Ministry
We thank God for his sustaining grace and mercy. After the loaded schedule of going back and forth to the hospital for the check-ups and laboratory tests of our child this month, we can resume our Bible study with the Diaz family. Praise God for their lives and eagerness to study His word. I also thank the Lord for the life of my daughter Eunice and for her being my partner in Bible study. As a father, it is my great joy to train and equip my child to do the ministry. Since my wife has a job and cannot accompany me to Bible study, my son Carlos stays with our youngest as she is on medication. We praised the privilege and great opportunity to serve him by feeding spiritual food to the Diaz family.
Weekly Children Feeding Ministry
We praise God for his sustaining grace; from the time we launched the feeding program until now, God has sustained us and the kids. The kids are excited to join our weekly feeding program, and we praise the Lord for the growth we have witnessed. We are grateful that what they have learned in Sunday school they are applying at home and school. They are now learning to pray, and some will volunteer to lead in prayer and sing and dance to worship Jesus. Our volunteer teacher, Cristy, and my wife made a series of lessons and Bible stories about character foundation. The children are also taught memory verses, and we are amazed that most boys are eager to memorize. Our goal and vision for the kids and youth we minister to is that they will grow in faith and total dependence on the Lord in every aspect of their lives. Our great joy is that these kids will grow in the Lord and become church leaders. Praise the Lord for sustaining this ministry for a year now.
Please pray for our kids’ good health and healing. Some of them are now having coughs, colds, and fevers due to the scorching weather we are currently having here in the Philippines.Pray for wisdom, patience, and strength for our volunteer teachers, Cristy and my wife, as they teach the kids.Pray for financial provision as we plan to buy tables for the kids to be used in their activities and during mealtimes.Pray these kids will grow in love and wisdom in the Lord.
Please help us continue praying that these children we minister to weekly will grow in the love and wisdom of the Lord. Pray that more parents will come to know Jesus through the feeding ministry and the lives of these precious children.
Family Health Challenges
Trials and challenges in life and ministry are inevitable, but the Lord our God is our helper, our only Savior, a great Redeemer-King, and a Way-maker. This month of February, we were bombarded with physical and emotional challenges. My father got admitted to the hospital, and we are in a mix of emotions about his condition physically and our status financially, while my brother keeps on calling me to see how we can find a solution to the hospital bill. My wife and I also seek a diagnostic center to check our daughter. In the second week of January, my daughter had a mild seizure every night, and we expected that she was dreaming or hallucinating. But on the second Sunday of this month, while she was sitting in the church chair waiting for us to finish our monthly core group meeting, she hallucinated with a seizure that got our full attention. This is not a dream or hallucination, for she is not asleep. So, the day after that, we brought her to the neurologist to find out her condition, and the presumption of neuro is that she has schistosomiasis. The doctor requested several laboratory tests. My daughter is eleven years old, and if it is possible that she got this kind of disease based on their study, it takes twenty years to feel the effects or experience the effects. The doctor also found an abnormality in her frontal lobe, so he suggested that we get a Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or CT scan to see the condition of her brain. As of now, we are in the process of working out her MRI, and we will do it in a private hospital to get the result fast so as not to prolong the condition of my child.
Please be with us in prayer for strength, wisdom, and financial provision for the ongoing treatment of our child. The Lord our God is our Helper, Savior, Great Redeemer, King, and Way-maker.
Celebrating One Year: Milestones in Our Children’s Feeding Ministry
We praise the Lord for His continuous provision for our children’s feeding ministry, sustaining it week after week. Despite the challenges encountered this month, we are immensely grateful as we celebrate the first anniversary of our ministry. It all began in February last year, and over the past year, we have witnessed remarkable growth and improvement among the children we serve. Physically, we’ve seen them flourish; socially, they’ve engaged in interactive games; mentally, they’ve absorbed integrated lessons; emotionally, they’ve learned to interact; and spiritually, they’ve embraced Bible stories, prayer, and memorized verses each week. We are grateful for the dedicated service of volunteer teacher Cristy and the youth who assist in teaching these children. Many of these children come from families grappling with poverty, often deprived of nourishing meals, as their parents, primarily fishermen, prioritize selling their catch to afford necessities like rice. However, we rejoice in God’s use of this ministry to extend His love and provisions to these children, contributing to the advancement of His kingdom.
Building A Godly Family: Highlights from our Couple’s Night Event
Amid packed schedules and facing various physical and emotional trials, we extend heartfelt gratitude to the Lord for the invaluable contributions of Dr. Jennifer Paño and Pastor Cris Paño as our dynamic speakers during this month’s couple’s dinner date. This gathering has drawn twenty-two couples from diverse areas of our Bible study groups, including some parents of regular church attendees.
Pastor Cris imparted wisdom on cultivating a joyful home environment, while Dr. Jennifer provided insights on effective child discipline techniques. Their expertise and guidance enriched the evening, offering couples practical tools to strengthen their relationships and family dynamics. We are grateful for the message to reach out to every couple present at the event.
Praying to God for this event, we connected with the fathers, for the majority is only the wife attending the Bible study.
Continue to pray that these children we minister to weekly will grow in the love and wisdom of the Lord. Pray that more parents will come to know Jesus through the feeding ministry and the lives of these precious children. Pray for wisdom and strength for my wife and our volunteer teacher, Cristy, our Bible student and a weekender, as they teach these precious kids. Pray for knowledge, wisdom, strength, and God’s provision to sustain our weekly feeding program financially. Please help us pray for strength, guidance, and protection for me and my family as we do the ministry together with our job and study. Pray for complete healing for my daughter, Ashly.
New Year Party and Weekly Children’s Feeding Ministry
We praise the Lord for the overflowing provision with which our feeding ministry continues every week and for His sustaining grace in the lives of these children. We are grateful for the people God uses to bless the children so they can be fed physically with nutritious foods and spiritually through God’s word. We celebrated our New Year’s party with the children, one way of thanking the Lord for His sustaining grace in this feeding ministry. We gave the children fruit and delicious meals, played group games, worshiped God by singing and dancing, and heard God’s word. Some children brought their parents to the celebration program, and we are glad the parents enjoyed themselves with their children. God uses this feeding ministry to be how we can access parents and minister to them.
Bible Study
We praise the Lord for sustaining our church last year and for another year to celebrate and be thankful for God’s faithfulness in the lives of our brothers and sisters here in Calero. During the traditional and cultural celebration of the Sinulog festival here in Cebu, we were affected; our neighbors played loud music and songs about worshiping their idol god. Through this, we are grateful to be still able to continue our Bible study every Sunday afternoon. On our first meeting this year, we thanked the Lord and looked back on His faithfulness and goodness for the past year and how the Lord has sustained each of us and our families.
We are so grateful to the Lord that one of our youth and a volunteer in our children’s feeding ministry, Cony, expressed her desire to study at Bible college. Cony and her sister, Genevev listened to the weekly Bible study I had at their parent’s home. Since then, the girls went to our first Whitefield youth camp, have been active in the church, and are now volunteers teaching the children. Cony asks for prayer for her desire to study in Bible school to become a Christian educator. She and her sister Genevev graduated from grade twelve last school year, but instead of going to college, both needed to get jobs to help with family finances to support their eight younger siblings; Cony is the third. Their father is a laborer in construction work and does not have a permanent income. We are praying as a church about how we can help her in her studies.
Bible Month Celebration
January is National Bible Month here in the Philippines, and as part of celebrating, we had a culmination activity during our children’s Sunday school and feeding. My wife shared the importance of Bible study with the kids, as in 2 Timothy 3:16–17. The children are taught about the authors of the Bible, its books, and how the Bible is used in daily life. It is our prayer to rejoice that these precious little children will know the Lord Jesus Christ, have a personal relationship with Him, and become the leaders and educators of God’s Word in the church. We pray that the Lord will use them mightily to become channels of blessings to their parents and families.
Prayer requests:
Pray that these more than 50 children we minister to weekly will grow in the love and wisdom of the Lord. Pray that parents will come to know Jesus through the feeding ministry and the lives of these precious children. Pray for my wife and for Cristy, a Bible student and weekend volunteer teacher, as they prepare and make curriculum lessons for this year. Pray for knowledge, wisdom, strength, and God’s provision to sustain our weekly feeding program financially. Pray for the spiritual growth and maturity of these young people. Please pray for the celebration of our upcoming third church anniversary this month of February. Pray for provision, wisdom in planning the program, our speaker, and good weather.
We extend our gratitude to God, our Savior and Lord, for abundantly providing for the Calero Church planting work despite our limited resources, recognizing Him as the ultimate source of everything. We joyfully celebrated Children’s Month with 58 active participants in our weekly feeding program. Although we delayed the culmination due to time and budget constraints, we praise God that, despite the challenges, we could still host a delightful celebration for these children. We emphasize their value and preciousness as children by serving their favorite spaghetti and providing fruits. Many of them have faced verbal abuse, child labor, rejection, abandonment, and broken families, depriving them of their rights. Yet, through the Calero Church planting work, we are grateful to God for allowing us to tangibly demonstrate care and love, offering hope and assurance of His love, care, and protection. In doing so, we aim to convey the message of how valuable and precious they are in the eyes of God.
Nurturing Hearts: Empowering Families through Child Protection Education
Recognizing the preciousness of children to God, we emphasize the need to cherish, protect, love, and educate them. During our Children’s Month celebration, we had the privilege of educating both kids and parents on child protection, addressing prevalent issues of physical, emotional, and verbal abuse in our community. Sharing Bible passages highlighting Jesus’ love for children, we aim to instill a sense of care and responsibility. Gratefully, my wife’s role as a child developmental worker equips her with valuable insights on child protection, which she imparts to the community entrusted to us by God. Seeing parents attentively listening and responding to these crucial discussions is heartening. Praise the Lord for this opportunity to impact the lives of both children and parents positively.
Elevating Worship: Empowering the Next Generation in the Exalting Ministry
In our commitment to train and equip the next generation for active participation in the uplifting ministry, we conducted a Praise and Worship Workshop Seminar at Gateway EFCP in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, this month. This seminar is a prerequisite for those aspiring to engage in the exalting ministry. As the interim pastor of the replanting churches in Lapu-Lapu since September 2023 and officially taking over leadership from January 2024 due to the retiring 80-year-old pastor, my wife and I aspire to organize the praise and worship team. We included ten young individuals from Calero Church Planting in the workshop to prepare our team for Calero. We are grateful for everyone’s enthusiasm, availability, and eagerness to participate in the praise and worship seminar. During the workshop, attendees are instructed on leading praise and worship with proper etiquette, selecting appropriate song line-ups, understanding the distinct roles within the team, including instrumentalists, and recognizing the significance of prayer and devotion in this ministry. We pray that the Lord instills a burden in the hearts of these young individuals to engage actively in the exalting ministry this year and equips them with the necessary skills. Despite interruptions in our training schedule last year due to the busy lives of our youth and many graduating students, we anticipate resuming training this year.
Please help us pray that these more than 50 children we minister to weekly will grow in the love and wisdom of the Lord. Pray that more parents will come to know Jesus through the feeding ministry and the lives of these precious children. Pray for my wife and our volunteer teacher, Cristy, as they prepare and make curriculum lessons for this year. Pray for knowledge, wisdom, strength, and God’s provision to sustain our weekly feeding program financially. Please help us pray for God’s financial provision as I enroll for the second semester of this school year. Please pray for our music training that we will organize starting next month. Pray for the availability of our young people, as some of them are working now, and the availability and passion of the youth trainers and leaders from our mother church. Pray for the spiritual growth and maturity of these young people.
Praise the Lord for the successful women’s district fellowship last month. Thirty-six women attended the event from five evangelical churches; three of these were White Fields’ church plants. It was a wonderful time of encouraging one another to grow in faith and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and to develop closer friendship with one another.
The theme was “A Woman of Courage and Strength.” They meditated on the life of Abigail in the Old Testament. My wife was the speaker, and the host church was the Light of Life Community Center. What a joy and encouraging activity to witness these women from different areas gathering together to praise and worship God and encourage one another in unity.
Praise the Lord that we were able to give four hundred and fifty pairs of slippers (flip-flops) to the kids at three areas of White Fields’ church planning including Calero Evangelical Free Church, Light of Life Community Center, and our newly formed church planting ministry in Danao, Cebu with Pastor Lito.
We thank God for the opportunity and privilege to minister to God’s people through slippers. Bro. Dennis was a devout Roman Catholic and wealthy man who had fully rejected God and pastors, and never gave his family a chance to enter a church or invite a pastor into their house. But one day, God cut off all the sources of his income, and he ended up in poverty which led him to depression. Because of his depression and shame, it came to his mind to kill all his children, his wife, and himself. But during that time, a pastor whom he had rejected was sent by God to their home where Dennis had already locked up his family in their room, ready to kill them with a pistol. The said pastor was in their house the whole night, ministering to Dennis until God convicted him and he repented. From that moment on, he became born again and praised God. His life and family were restored by God, even his wealth.
Bro. Dennis and his family are now living abroad. They are supporting students in their studies in Cebu. Dennis visited here in Cebu for three months and one of his goals was to give slippers to children and even adults with the printed message, Jesus loves me. So that every time a person wears the slippers, they will be reminded that even in their daily walks, God loves them and takes care of them.
Our weekly children’s feeding continues, and we thank God for providing grace, wisdom, and strength to the volunteers as well as the children to whom we minister every week. According to the parents, the children are always excited and thrilled about the coming each Sunday, some even arrive hours early instead of waiting till the afternoon for the program to start. We are excited that the older children are becoming active in the program too, they are now the ones volunteering to lead the dancing and singing during worship time as well as the games. We praise the Lord for utilizing this ministry to reach the children, to help them grow in their faith, and to become future leaders in the church.
- Pray for my wife, who is in charge of the children’s ministry, as well as our teachers, to have more strength, knowledge, and patience when teaching the kids.
Our weekly Bible studies continue, and we are struggling with the weather affecting the different areas. It is very hot in the morning with sudden heavy rains in the afternoon. Despite these challenges, we are continuing. I am amazed at the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the nine employees at my wife’s workplace and how God is changing them from not caring to being excited for their God’s Word.
- Pray for wisdom and knowledge as we do our planning and evaluation for the ministry goals of next year.
- Pray for wisdom and time management for my wife and me, I am a student, pastor, husband, and parent. My wife is an employee, mother, and wife. Pray also for our children’s academic accomplishments and protection.
- Pray for the Holy Spirit’s advanced ministering power in the lives of these people to whom we minister.
- Pray for the more than fifty children to grow in the love and wisdom of the Lord.
- Pray that through our children’s ministry, more parents may come to know Jesus.
